Abbot of Hsi Lai Temple Ven. Hui Dong Spreads Buddhism in the Midwest Conducts St. Louis Home Blessing March 20, 2015 Abbot of Hsi Lai Temple Los Angeles Ven. Hui Dong arrived in St. Louis on March 19 and started his Dharma program in the Midwest. On March 20, he first visited the home of Rogana Hsu and Shi-Ning Wang, Vice President and Board Director of Buddhist Light International Association St. Louis Chapter, for a home blessing. A total of 50 people attended the two events, which were accompanied by Master Men Pu from Fo Guang Shan Chicago temple, Master Jue Huang, and Master Ru Gong from the St. Louis temple. Abbot Ven. Hui Dong conducted home blessing rituals and sutra chants in each house. In the evening, Rogana Hsu hosted a vegetarian banquet for each participant. After dinner, Ven Hui Dong explained how to practice Buddhism with daily contemplation from the heart. He emphasized that the wisdom of Buddhism can only be achieved from the heart’s inner reflection. When the wisdom arises from the inner contemplation, there will be no agony anymore. He also gave tips on how to practice Buddhism and answered many questions about karma, ordained and at home Buddhist self-cultivation. The event ended with a feast of Dharma and vegetarian food. Everyone happily received a souvenir and sent off the Masters with the Buddhist song “Buddha's Light Shines on You”. Abbot of Hsi Lai Temple Ven. Hui Dong conducted a home blessing at the house of Rogano Hus, Vice President of Buddhist Light International Association St. Louis Chapter, and answered many questions from the participants about Buddhism practice.
