QGSSSSA Soccer
On the Friday 20 May the last soccer game of the 2015 season was held. It was an away game,
played against one of the strongest teams in the whole competition, BSHS. However, girls have been
working extremely hard during the last trainings for this season and, finally, the hard work paid off
with St Hilda’s scoring a goal. It was scored in the first half by the Soccer Co-Captain, Ilona leaver. It
has been a wonderful season, girls, and we hope that from now on St Hilda's soccer will grow and
improve its results over the years to come. During this season we have all became one big family.
Great effort and we will miss you girls.

QGSSSA Touch
Friday’s games vs BSHS were always going to be tough, but the vast improvement in scores
compared to last year was remarkable! The positive attitude and ‘play out every set’ mindset that all
the teams had were inspiring. This year saw possibly our best overall results in touch for a number of
years. Strong improvements were made across the majority of teams and we saw many individuals
step up and lead their teams both on and off the field. The general game play and sportsmanship is
to be commended. All coaches have done a fantastic job in ensuring that similar tactics/game plays
are being taught across all teams this year which will help in the years to come. A big thank you to
the coaches and to the Touch Captains Montana Leskiw and Kylie Jervis who made my job a lot
easier with their willingness to jump in and help out wherever needed.

Golden Glove Softball
Saturday 30 May
This Saturday, eleven enthusiastic, committed and talented soft ballers made the road trip to
Redland Bay to play the Golden Glove Tournament. After becoming South Coast Region Champions,
the girls set out to showcase their talents at State level, while taking away as many tips and tricks
from the other teams. The girls played amazingly well and with their positive chat on the field led by
Ashleigh at 1st base, the team were definitely the most positive and supportive group there. As the
coach, I was so proud of the team and the efforts every girl gave; they are a capable group of soft
ballers, who are eagerly looking forward to next year’s QGSSSA Softball. Most Improved for the
carnival was Georgia Kerville and Most Valuable Player was our Captain Asiah Hatcher who led from
the front for the entire carnival.

Interm ediate Club Netball – Monday 1 June
All teams played well this afternoon with some great results. In Division 1, St Hilda’s Storm are in
first place and St Hilda’s Thunder are third equal, while in Division 2 St Hilda’s Strikers are in third
place with St Hilda’s Force in seventh. With only three more games before semifinals, teams are
sitting well for placement. There will be no games next Monday afternoon due to the Queen’s
Birthday weekend. QGSSSA trials are on at present and we wish all the girls the best of luck for these
trials.

St Hilda’s Storm:
Another amazing game of netball by St Hilda’s Storm, defeating Magic Pink 37-10. It was great to
have Georgia Adamson and Claire Watson back from exchange in England. All girls listened to
coaching advice and we dominated through the whole court in all positions. The girls are continually
improving and developing their skills and they are all lovely girls to coach.
Coach - Charmian Adamson
St Hilda’s Thunder:
The Girls played Regals in what was a hard game from the beginning. We started really well going in
even at quarter time. Unfortunately, we turned over too much ball in the second quarter which had
us playing catch up for the rest of the game. We still need to work on driving to the ball as it let us
down tonight with too much sideways action. We kept ourselves in the game by showing great
reaction in defence and it showed the girls had been listening at training and then implementing on
court. Regals won 25-16.
Coach - Vicki Hardin
St Hilda’s Strikers:
St Hilda’s Strikers worked hard tonight, putting their training into practise. Defenders made some
amazing intercepts which gave us much needed turn overs. Centre court girls moved the ball down
well. They also made sure to get in front of their players on defence, making it hard for the other
team to get the ball. Shooters movement around the circle was impressive which often caught the
other team off guard. The team is looking so strong at the moment, and we are looking forward to
the next game.Coach - Roanne Dwyer
St Hilda’s Force:
The girls had a very close score today. The score went up and down throughout the game. The girls
kept their eye on the prize, working hard to overcome the small margins. While the defense did
amazing work, unfortunately our shots weren't going in. As the game ended, the girls smiled
brightly as they shook hands with the opposition because, even though they lost, they had enjoyed
the game and challenge.
