FLORIDA WING HEADQUARTERS CIVIL AIR PATROL UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AUXILIARY 2015 DDR Task Force Challenge and National Character Day Coral Springs Charter H.S Corner of University Drive and Sample Road MEMORANDUM FOR ALL FLORIDA WING PERSONNEL FROM: FLORIDA WING HEADQUARTERS SUBJECT: 2015 Drug Demand Reduction Task Force Challenge and National Character Day 1. MISSION: The Florida Wing will be hosting its first Drug Demand Reduction Task Force Challenge Weekend on April 17 thru 19, 2015 at Coral Springs Charter High School (South Florida). 2. PURPOSE: The purpose of the Drug Demand Reduction Task Force is to motivate cadets to take issues of character and honor seriously, and to commit themselves to the drug-free ethic, and to further integrate the Drug Demand Reduction program into CAP’s overall Cadet Program. Furthermore, upon completion of the DDR Task Force challenge, cadets will have the opportunity to be a member of the task force and ambassadors of the DDR program. 3. EXECUTION: Staff members will arrive no later than 1700 hrs on 10 April 2015 for arrival and instruction. Participants are to arrive no earlier than 1800 hrs and no later than 2000 hrs on 10 April 2015. (Exceptions may be made for those cadets traveling with staff). Cadets may notify the activity staff to receive permission for a later arrival if they are traveling a long distance. There will be a MANDATORY safety briefing at 2000hrs on 10 April 2015. All activities will conclude at 1400 on 12 April 2015. No early arrivals or dismissals are permitted without the Activity Director’s permission. 4. PARTICIPANT/TEAM APPLICATIONS: Cadets applying to be participants in the DDR Task Force Challenge Weekend must have a current CAP membership. Each participant must provide the following. 1. A FLWG Form 500B, completed and SIGNED. 2. Two completed CAPF 160 and 161 to be brought to the activity. 3. A completed CAPF 163 (for Members under 18). 4. $50 per participant 5. STAFF APPLICATIONS: Staff members (Cadet and Senior) will be needed to support the activity. 1. Applicants will fill out the eForm 503, CAPF 161 and 160 and upload them on the staff application on flcadet.com NLT 10 FEB 2015. 2. The fee for staff is $50. 3. A completed CAPF 163(for Members under 18). 6. CADET RESPONSIBILITIES: The cadets are responsible for the following: 1. Transportation to and from activity unless prior arrangements are made. 2. Follow all CAP regulations and directives. 3. Personal Conduct. 4. Bringing all required items. 7. UNIFORMS Friday – Battle Dress Uniform (sleeves up) Saturday – Battle Dress Uniform Sunday – Battle Dress Uniform 8. LODGING INFORMATION AND MEALS: We will be conducting a lock-in at Coral Springs Charter High School Corner of University Drive and Sample Road. Bring sleeping bags. Coral Springs Charter High School: 3205 North University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065 Friday – Must Come Fed Saturday – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Provided Sunday – Breakfast and Snack Provided 9. TRANSPORTATION: Transportation to and from such activity is not the responsibility of CAP and is provided “as available”. Privately owned vehicles travel to or from such activity is performed strictly at the member’s own risk (reference CAPR 77-1, para 6c and CAPR 52-16, para 8-10) and is not under CAP direction and control. Transportation during the activity may be provided if requested 1week in advance pending availability. 10. CONDUCT: While at the activity, personnel will be expected to maintain a professional level of conduct becoming of Civil Air Patrol members. The Cadet Honor Code will be strictly enforced, and Cadets posing disciplinary problems may be sent home, if directed by the Project Officer. 11. One set of clean and pressed BDU’s with all appropriate patches and grade insignia IAW CAPM 39-1. 2. Three black undershirts 3. One Pair well polished and broken in boots 4. BDU Cover and BDU Belt. b. Personal Items and Toiletries (Showering facilities are available) 1. Three pair Underwear 2. Two pair athletic socks 3. Three pair black boot socks 4. One set of civilian clothing 5. Black shorts 6. Clothing to sleep in 7. All other required toiletries (Toothbrush, Shaving Gear, Soap, shower shoes, etc.) c. Other Items 1. Sleeping Gear (Either linens, or sleeping bag and pillow - Beds are not provided) 2. Black Pen 3. Notebook 4. One pair of running shoes 5. All required forms (see above) d. Optional Items 1. Students are strongly discouraged for bringing other personal electronic devices. They are not prohibited except during duty hours, but Civil Air Patrol, the Florida Wing, and the Staff of the DDR Task Force Challenge accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to these items. e. Prohibited Items 1. Weapons (i.e. Anything considered to be able to hurt another member such as Knives, Guns etc.) 2. Alcohol. 3. Drugs. f. Medication All medications (including over-the-counter items) must be in the original containers. Pharmacy labeled containers with individual’s name, medication name, and dispensing. Present during in processing/sign-in. g. POVs Any cadet bringing a privately owned vehicle will be required to secure the vehicle and turn in the keys to the Activity staff. If you drive your personal vehicle, be sure to bring proof of insurance, license and registration.
