8-14 June 2015
(1-Week Program)
Organized by Faculty of Science, CU
Supported by ASEAN Studies Center and
Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University &
ASEAN Youth and Friendship Network
Overview
Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University (CU) has realized the
importance of student preparation for the ASEAN Economy Community (AEC) in
2015, especially in terms of academic strength and collaboration. Faculty of
Science, CU would like to propose as the lead in organizing scientific lectures and
workshops in the following ASEAN-distinctive science topics below to help
facilitating the knowledge sharing, strengthening the scientific knowledge, and
establishing the ASEAN science youth network among ASEAN students:
(1) Environmental problems
(2) Natural disaster management
(3) Biodiversity
Beside the preparation for the academic strength, the understanding of other
ASEAN cultures, social values and languages are also another important factor for
the success of AEC. Therefore, Center for International Cooperation Promotion,
Faculty of Science together with ASEAN Youth Friendship Network (AYFN)
decide to organize ASEAN Science Camp 2015, allowing Thai and ASEAN
students in various majors to interactively learn about science, and at the same
time, to exchange cultures and languages and improve their English
communication skills.
Tentatively, 25 international members and 25 CU students will participate in
ASEAN Science Camp 2015 during June 8-14, 2015. The activities will include
the lecture on ASEAN integration by Executive director of ASEAN University
Network (AUN), and natural disaster management workshops from the
distinguished faculty members invited from Faculty of Science, the biodiversity
workshops guided by faculty members in Biology Departments, the cultural tours
and the charity activities in Kanchanaburi.
