With the ASEAN Community set to be established by
December 31, 2015, there is a need to better understand the
role and state of higher education within the broader ASEAN
developments and in relation to global higher education trends
and discourses. How are ASEAN higher education developments
influenced by other region’s developments? What is the role
of the Bologna Process, and how do external factors influence
ASEAN higher education developments? This presentation
traces key documents and developments in ASEAN regionalism,
the establishment of an ASEAN Higher Education Area, and
country‑level higher education developments. n
