2015 ASEAN SCIENCE CAMP ASEAN YOUTH FRIENDSHIP NETWORK CU – AYFN ASEAN SCIENCE CAMP 2015 BANGKOK, 7 – 14 JUNE 2015 OVERVIEW We have realized the importance of student preparation for the ASEAN Community in 2015, especially in terms of academic strength and collaboration. We would like to organize scientific lectures and workshops in the following ASEAN-distinctive science topics below to help facilitating the knowledge sharing, strengthening the scientific knowledge, and establishing the ASEAN science youth network among ASEAN students: (1) Environmental problems (2) Natural disaster management (3) Biodiversity Beside the preparation for the academic strength, the understanding of other ASEAN cultures, social values and languages are also another important factor for the success of ASEAN Community 2015. Therefore, Center for International Cooperation Promotion, Faculty of Science together with ASEAN Youth Friendship Network (AYFN) decide to organize CU-AYFN ASEAN Science Camp 2015, allowing Thai and ASEAN students in various majors to interactively learn about science, and at the same time, to exchange cultures and languages and improve their English communication skills. OBJECTIVES 1) To provide an opportunity for CU and ASEAN students to learn, exchange, share and discuss their ideas and knowledge on the scientific topics of climate change and natural disaster management, food safety and biodiversity. 2) To establish the ASEAN science youth network 3) To learn and understand other ASEAN cultures, languages and social values. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION CU-AYFN ASEAN Science Camp 2015 consists of following activities: 1. Lectures, workshops and discussion on ASEAN integration, Environmental problems and Natural disaster, and Biodiversity 2. Biodiversity and geology workshops at Erawon National Park 3. Site visit at the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Kanchanaburi 4. Cultural and history tours in Kanchaburi 5. Charity activities at orphanage home in Kanchaburi province, and 6. Cultural performances LOCATIONS FOR THE MAIN ACTIVITIES 1. Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University 2. The conservation area for the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Kanchanaburi. 3. AYFN will review your application and confirm you whether you are accepted or not afterward. Candidate will receive invitation letter if acknowledged to be accepted. 3. Deadline is 30 April 2015 at 11.00 p.m. Program fee To take part at ASEAN Science Camp, participants are required to pay program fee in amount of : Type of participant Individual Group (min 4 persons) Returnee (Alumni of previous AYFN program) Program fee USD 400 USD 350 / person USD 300 *Program fee should be paid after being accepted. *For group, please send the app form in one folder. All members of a group must fill the application form. What’s included?
