“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a
mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same
image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
2Corinthians 3:17-18(NASB)
May is a month of changes. The school year ends, and for
some its graduation time. This speaks to other changes, children
getting ready to go off to college or starting their careers. This joyous occasion can be tempered with reservations because of the inherent change.
We humans crave stability, especially if we have done
things a certain way for a long time. It’s comfortable, we know all
the steps we need to take, and there are few surprises. It feels safe.
Change is the very essence of following Christ. Our call is
to become like Him and as we become like Him, we make other
disciples for Him.
We often say we want to be Great Commission believers.
This is the fervent hope of many long-term believers. To effectively have this kind of walk with Christ will take some honest
evaluation.
Lets begin with Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so
that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and
acceptable and perfect.” The call is clear that we become more like
Christ.
Becoming like Christ means that we walk, talk, and see like
Him. We put aside what we want, what pleases us, so that we
might please Him. There are several opportunities this month see
the calendar on the reverse side) to reach out and show the transformative power of Christ’s love.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Rich
