Nearly 200 Global Economic Leaders Gather for the 21st Edition of the
Conference of Montreal
Montreal, QC – The 21st edition of the Conference of Montreal starts today. This year's theme is Building
a Balanced Economy. Close to 200 speakers are invited, including a number of economic leaders who
will share their thoughts on the main issues affecting global economic growth. Amongst the topics to be
discussed are the future of the energy sector, climate change, infrastructure financing, the work-retirement
transition, and investments in research and innovation, particularly in the health sector.
"In addition to providing a unique forum for networking and exchanging ideas, the Conference of
Montreal is increasingly becoming a platform that encourages economic leaders to work together to
identify potential solutions to the challenges associated with balancing economic growth in all regions of
the world," points out Nicholas Rémillard, President and Chief Executive Officer of the International
Economic Forum of the Americas.
The Conference will be co-chaired by David M. Cote, Chair and Chief Executive Officer at Honeywell,
and Patrick Pouyanné, Chair of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer at TOTAL.
The conference will also feature prominent speakers who will attend the various sessions, including
Ségolène Royal, Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France, Michäelle Jean,
Secretary General, International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chair and
Chief Executive Officer, GE, Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director, Oxfam International, Ian
Bremmer, President, Eurasia Group and Editor-at-Large, TIME magazine, and Suma Chakrabarti,
President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to name just a few.
More than 4,000 participants are expected at the Bonaventure Hotel, June 8 to 11, for this important event
that continues to grow every year.
