20150325-CN-757-Northern Zone upcoming works

25 March 2015
UPCOMING WORKS:
NORTHERN ZONE
Leach Hwy and Tonkin Hwy, Cloverdale and Redcliffe
Continuing throughout April 2015
Following on from the realignment of traffic onto the recently
constructed Tonkin Highway carriageways in the vicinity of
Leach Highway, work will be commencing in the area
previously occupied by the Tonkin Highway / Leach Highway
intersection. Earthworks, pavement construction and
progression of structures work will be ongoing to form the
remaining ramps as part of the Grand Gateway interchange.
With some traffic moved off the ramp that carries Leach
Highway eastbound traffic onto the Tonkin Highway
northbound carriageway, finishing work such as barrier
construction will be able to progress. This will be followed by
Principal Shared Path (PSP) formation through this section
of the interchange. PSP construction will also be progressing
on the southern side of this interchange.
> Construction of road pavement, involving delivery,
placement and compaction of sub-base material and laying
asphalt for the interchange ramps
> PSP construction including pavement construction and
asphalting
> Permanent barrier construction and finishing works including
lighting and kerbing
> Steel fixing, concrete pours and delivery of materials for the
construction of final interchange structures and urban design
/ art features.
The construction of the new Tonkin Highway / Dunreath
Drive interchange adjacent to Redcliffe Park continues to
progress at a rapid pace, with the team continuing the
asphalting of the ultimate northbound carriageway and the
ramps on the western side during April. Works will continue
nearby Great Eastern Highway to connect the upgraded
section of the highway into the existing, along with
construction of the PSP north of the new bridge up to
Stanton Road footbridge.
Finishing works will also continue in the vicinity of the Tonkin
Highway / Dunreath Drive interchange and along Tonkin
Highway during the month, with the painting of a public art
piece on the bridge retaining wall adjacent to Redcliffe Park
expected to get underway.

CREATING AN ICONIC GATEWAY TO WA
The road network around the Perth Airport and Kewdale
industrial precinct is continually changing as the Gateway WA
Perth Airport and Freight Access Project progressively
transforms the area to its ultimate arrangement.
These changes involve layout modifications and traffic
restrictions at the following intersections to enable the
completion of the new interchanges:
>
>
>
Tonkin Highway / Leach Highway
Leach Highway / Abernethy Road
Tonkin Highway / Horrie Miller Drive / Kewdale Road

changes and planning your journey.
