Jeffersonville H.S. Students Place First at Purdue Engineering Expo
Congratulations to Jeffersonville High School students Jiffy Bishop, Katie Bowen, Brandon Elsner, Nick Lozier, and
Alex Roberts for placing first the 2015 Purdue University Engineering Expo! Twenty-three schools were represented at
the expo, with over 100 teams and 500 students participating.
Jeffersonville High School had seven teams compete at the expo.
During the event, students participate in a variety of activities. There
was an activities fair during which students had the opportunity to
talk with representatives from all of Purdue’s engineering schools, as
well as members of various engineering clubs and organizations.
Students also took part in a quiz bowl event where they test their
knowledge of basic engineering concepts and theories. Finally, the
highlight of the day was an impromptu design competition where
teams had to build a car that could travel the furthest down a ramp
and protect eggs from being destroyed by a crusher.
The goal of the Purdue University Engineering Expo is to
promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Manufacturing) career fields. The expo is a hands-on, head-first dive into the
multifaceted world of engineering. The winning students will receive scholarship money for Purdue University. Great job
Red Devils!
