SAM ALKHARRAT
Managing Director, West Region
SAP North America
Sam Alkharrat is the managing director of the West region of SAP North America. He is responsible for leading the market
unit’s overall strategy, business operations, customer, and partner engagements.
Sam joined SAP in 2010 as president of the Middle East & North Africa region. During his tenure, he led one of SAP’s most
successful growth plans by building a strong leadership team across industries, geographies and segments; expanding the
partner ecosystem; launching SAP’s first-of-a-kind training and development institute for young talent; and elevating the
brand through customer success, government relations, and corporate social responsibility. Under Sam’s leadership, the
region’s business quadrupled, and SAP took the leading position in the market, growing its share, and winning back key
customer references.
Prior to joining SAP, Sam spent sixteen years with Cisco Systems as managing director of the company’s public sector
business across emerging markets, with responsibility for the segment’s strategy and operations in Russia, Central and
Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Throughout his career with Cisco, Sam held several leadership
roles including overseeing the company’s business operations in the Gulf, and Pakistan, the telecom business across the
Middle East and Africa, as well as technical operation executive positions.
Sam holds a bachelor of science in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Toledo in Ohio, the global
executive MBA from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and an Advanced Management Program diploma from
INSEAD Business School in France. Sam is also a certified master behavioral coach.
