The Grimm Family Education Foundation (GFEF) is a non-profit organization
committed to helping raise educational expectations and achievement
outcomes for students in rural communities throughout Kern County. Through the
development of charter schools and Edible Schoolyards, we provide innovative
educational solutions and a new choice for students in underserved

Grimmway Academy is a charter school located in Arvin, California. GA
opened its doors in 2011 and we are now in our 4th year with 575 students
expanding to middle school in the fall of 2015. www.grimmwayacademy.com
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Position Summary:
The GFEF Human Resources Assistant supports the Foundation’s Human
Resources Manager and the HR organization in the effective delivery of HR
services and programs to Grimmway Academy and the GFEF. He/she supports
the HR manager in all human resource functions, including, but not limited to
recruiting and hiring, employee relations, training, implementation of policies
and procedures, benefits, payroll, and performance management. The HR
Assistant also works closely with Foundation leadership staff on the development
of processes that further the Foundation’s and Academy’s missions and goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Human Resources Manager
•
Assists in developing position descriptions and related performance
measurement tools, job postings and scheduling recruiting and hiring

activities for GA teachers and staff and GFEF, which includes ESY, staff
and professional positions.
Assists in screening resumes and job applications
Assists in new employee orientations, ongoing employee meetings, and
training sessions
Collects the data and presents the annual compensation review and
analysis
Administration of HR Activities and Programs
• Assist in the day to day HR activities for payroll, benefits, and HR
compliance, which include:
o Process payroll for classified and certificated personnel and meets
payroll deadlines in a timely manner
o Assists in benefits program activities including open enrollment,
employee status updates, employee information sessions
o Maintains personnel records system
• Assist with compliance with applicable federal and state employment
regulations
• Researches and implements new or updated employment regulations
• Updates the policy and procedures manual
• Works with the HR Manager to administer the annual performance
management program through Reviewsnap
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of human resources laws, policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents
and in
a team centered environment
Experience implementing personnel systems and employee benefit
programs
Strong ability to participate in multiple project activities simultaneously
Knowledge and experience working with and managing electronic HR
management and support systems
Technology savvy in Microsoft office and related business software
programs

Self-starter and capability to operate successfully in a growing
organization
Required Education and Experience:
•

B.A. degree in management, organizational development, business or
human resources administration or related fields
3 years’ experience in human resources
