YEAR 1 DANDENONG MARKET EXCURSION
Tuesday 12th May, 2015
Dear Parents,
During this term, students in Year 1 will be exploring the sourcing, processing and the
consuming of food across time and place. As part of this Year 1, Term Two inquiry-based
learning unit which is called ‘Paddock to Plate’, students will be going on an excursion to the
Dandenong Market on Tuesday 12th May, 2015.
We will depart school at approximately 9.30am and will travel to the market by bus. The bus
will pick us up to return to school by approximately 12.00noon.
They will need to bring along a snack and a water bottle in a small backpack, to be carried
with them.
Please indicate on the permission slip if you are available as a parent helper. Thank you for
your expression of interest. Please note, if we receive more than the required number of
volunteers than will fit on the bus we will draw names out of a hat and let you know the
outcome as soon as possible. Parents not selected will be welcome to drive themselves to
assist by joining a group. Parent helpers will be allocated a supervisory role so will not be
able to bring other children for safety reasons.
Children will be allocated to small groups of 3 or 4 with a parent supervising.
The purpose of the visit is to provide students with a diverse food experience related to the
sourcing, processing and consuming of a variety of food.
The cost of the Excursion is $10.00
Please return the permission slip and money by 8th May, 2015.

be seated 3 to a seat depending on the size of the students, the distance travelled and the
design of the seats.
Please Note: Students who do not return their excursion permission note by the due date will
not be able to attend the excursion. No phone calls will be made to obtain permission.
