SEVEN STATIONS
There is the tradition of people going after the Mass of the Lord’s last Supper to visit seven churches and
spend some brief time before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are interested, after the Holy Thursday Mass we
will gather in the downstairs of the church and there carpool to different churches. When we finish we will return to the Parish Center for pizza and ice cream (before we start our Good Friday fast).
LAWS OF ABSTINENCE AND FASTING FOR GOOD FRIDAY
Don’t forget with Good Friday we are bound by the laws of fasting and abstinence. For those who 14 years of
age and older they are obliged to observe the laws of abstinence which one is to abstain from meat all Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. All adults 18 and older up to the beginning of their 60th year are also bound by
the laws of fasting on Good Friday. The laws of fasting are: we are limited to a single full meal (meatless).
Two other meals sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to one’s needs however these two
meals together should not equal another full meal.
SEVEN LAST WORDS OF CHRIST
The hours from 12:00 – 3:00 are the hours of the Lord’s Passion. To help foster some time of prayer and reflection, Fr. Kevin will be leading 7 brief meditations on the Seven Last Words of Jesus on the cross. In between each meditation there will be time for silence and some singing. Also, because it is a longer period of
time feel free to come and go even if it just for a little bit so as to maintain a prayerful attitude in those times.
LIVING STATIONS
At 3:00 pm on Good Friday some of the teenagers in the parish will be leading us through a meditation on
Passion of the Lord. It usually lasts about 30 - 40 minutes and Fr. Kevin will be offering Confessions afterwards.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE
At 7:00 pm we will have the beautiful celebration of the Good Friday Service. Hopefully this year we will be
able to have the relic of the True Cross when we celebrate the veneration of the cross.
EASTER VIGIL
On Holy Saturday at 8:00 pm we will have the celebration of the most sacred celebration, the Easter Vigil. It is
a long Mass (approx.. 3 hours) but one which so powerfully captures salvation history and Christ’s victory
over sin and death. The church will be open throughout the day but just prior to the beginning we will ask everyone who is able to gather outside for the lighting of the Easter candle and the procession in when we having
the singing of the Exultet. This year we have several adults being baptized or receiving the Eucharist and
Confirmation so please consider attending to support them as well. It should be a beautiful experience.
CONFIRMATION REHEARSAL
Just a reminder to all parents of those who are going to be on April 13th that there will be a rehearsal in the
church on Wednesday, April 8th at 6:00 pm that all the candidates for confirmation and their sponsors (or
something filling in for them) need to be present. Afterwards, they will gather downstairs to pick up their confirmation gowns and to enjoy an ice cream social for the confirmandee afterwards.
NEED COVERAGE FOR ADORATION
We are in need of coverage for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. and
Wednesday evenings from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please let Fr. Kevin or Tracey Desmarais know if you are able
and willing.

Meet Fr. Joe−
Answering the call with compassion
For Gary and Susan Pickering, Fr. Joe Mazzone is more than
a pastor—he is family.
Like so many priests in our Archdiocese, Fr. Joe has been
a source of strength and support, helping others find
Christ’s presence in times of joy and sorrow. When Gary
and Susan’s daughter Marcy passed away unexpectedly
during surgery, Fr. Joe was the first person they called.
Marcy had been a close friend of Fr. Joe’s, and her faith life
had blossomed with his help through challenging times
in her life. Fr. Joe was there for the Pickerings as they said
goodbye to their beloved Marcy then, and he remains
by their side today. Together, they continue to grow in
faith and friendship, confident that they will be reunited
with Marcy again, and grateful for the hope they receive
through each other in Christ Jesus.
Our priests are there for us and our families
without question or hesitation. Please consider
showing your gratitude by supporting your parish
collection this Easter.
Thank you for helping to ensure a continuum of care and
quality of life for all our active and senior priests.
“Support your priests with your love
and prayers, that they may always
be shepherds after Christ’s heart.”
- Pope Francis
