For the month of April the Food Pantry is in need
of the following: Canned corn, sweet potatoes,
soup, pork & beans, chicken, peas; mayonnaise,

ANNUAL GOLDEN WEDDING MASS
CELEBRATION
On Saturday, June 20th AND Sunday, June
21st at 2:00pm, the Annual Golden Wedding
Mass Celebration will be held at the Cathedral of
St. Patrick for couples celebrating 50 years of
marriage during 2015. His Eminence Timothy
Cardinal Dolan will be the principal celebrant.
Due to limited seating during the Cathedral’s
Restoration project, there will be two Jubilee
Masses with seating reserved in the front and in
the center aisle pews
for Jubilee couples.
Pre-registration is required. For reservations
please call the Parish Office at 769-0025. The
closing date to register for the Mass is Tuesday,
May 5th. This event is sponsored by the Family
Life/Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of New
York.

7 Grade – Save the Date
Tues April 21st 6:45pm in the Social Hall
Night of Volunteering & Confirmation
Preparation
Parents to join us. Confirmation preparation will
begin on that Night. The Wednesday class and
Home Study children need to attend.
Speakers from Family Events, ALS, Hope’s Door,
Midnight Run, Mt. Pleasant Library, and the
Coleman School will talk about Volunteering and
some possible opportunities with their organizations. The CHOSEN Confirmation program will be
introduced.
8th Grade—Save the Date
April 22nd at 6:45pm in the Church
The Culture Project will help us experience virtue
through their Chastity talk. Parents and Sponsors
are invited to join us.
Missions Donations—We have collected in excess of $900 so far. Each child who has returned
a Mission Box should have put their name on a
card for the hallway display. If they have not,
there will be an opportunity to do so this week.
Any boxes returned will be added to the total.

JULIUS AUCELLO SCHOLARSHIP
The St. Dominic Council Knights of Columbus is
offering the Julius Aucello scholarship to students
graduating high school and preparing for college.
The requirements are you must be a resident of
Mt. Pleasant, a practicing Catholic and will be
entering college in the fall. Applications are
available from your school guidance counselor
and at your parish rectory.
Our Offertory hymn this weekend is Roll Away
the Stone, the song was written by Tom Conry.
This hymn was written for the Easter season and
captures the power, the gift and the hope of
Easter. Easter reminds us that rolling away
stones is the way to new life. For forty days the
Lenten journey has been preparing our spirits.
The miracle of rolling away the stone is as much
the work of the Spirit today as it was at Jesus’
own resurrection. The message is to stand ready,
open and attentive so we don’t miss the stone
needing to be moved or the new life waiting for
us. For the next fifty days we are invited to keep
our eyes fixed on Jesus and our hearts open to
the Scriptures.
Tom Conry is a liturgist, composer and educator.
He is widely known for his themes of peace and
justice. Tom has presented workshops internationally as well as throughout the United States.
He has spoken at numerous NPM (National Association of Pastoral Musicians) events as well as
many events for dioceses, parishes and universities. He is a team member for the North American Forum on the Catechumenate and holds a
Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University.
Tom Conry also wrote Born of Peace, Ashes
and Anthem which we have used at Holy
Innocents.

CLUSTER PRAYER MEETING
A Cluster Prayer Meeting will be held at
St. Patrick’s Parish Center in Yorktown Heights
on Thursday, April 30th at 7:45pm. Guest
speaker is Brother Elijah Francis Grogan.
Brother Grogan will speak on “Creating a Culture

SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER

First Reading: Acts 4:32-35:
This passage describes the actions of the first community of Christians. They were of “one heart and
one mind.” They had no rich or poor among them, for they shared all necessary items with one another.
Second Reading: I John 5:1-6:
John explains that we become God’s children by believing in Jesus. When we love God and concern
ourselves only with pleasing God, our faith is strong enough to conquer the evil in our world.
Gospel: John 20:19-31:
Jesus appeared to the disciples despite locked doors, breathed on them so that they could receive the
Holy Spirit, and gave them the power to forgive sins in his name. Thomas, who was not present,
refused to believe without seeing Jesus for himself. Jesus appeared again when Thomas was present,
and told him, “Blest are they who have not seen and have believed.”

ALL SOULS CEMETERY

The following is list of permitted and prohibited grave plantings at All Souls Cemetery
●
Flowers may be planted in a space equal to the length of the grave marker and extending
outward 12 inches. If there is no marker, the length of the planting may not exceed two thirds
the width of the grave and must stay within a 12 inch depth.
●
Ornamental shrubs and trees may not be planted at the gravesite. Memorials in the form of
trees and shrubs will be made available by the cemetery board. The cemetery board will
decide plant type, size and location.
●
All unauthorized plantings will be removed.
●
The use of artificial materials is prohibited.
●
Grave borders of any kind are prohibited and will be removed. The application of crushed
stone is also prohibited.
●
Artificial plants, flowers, wreaths and designs; as well as all other decorative and devotional
objects are not allowed.
●
Potted plants in pots are permitted to be placed directly in front and center of the grave marker
7 DAYS PRIOR TO, BUT WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EIGHTH DAY, on
the following list of days:
Easter Sunday
Father’s Day, All Saints Day
Mother’s Day, All Souls Day
Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day, Anniversary Day

Christmas wreaths must be hung from the grave marker and not placed on the ground.
●
Palm crosses must be removed by Wednesday of Holy Week.
●
Deteriorating flags may be disposed of in the American Legion “flag mailbox” on Garrigan
Avenue for proper disposal ceremonies.
