Divine Mercy Sunday
The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is
that God loves us — all of us. And, he wants us to
recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so
that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His
mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all
will come to share His joy.
The Divine Mercy message is as simple as ABC:
A - Ask for His Mercy. B - Be merciful.
C - Completely trust in Jesus.

Spiritual Adoption Update
Oil and sweat glands are functioning. The
delicate skin of the growing baby is protected from
the fetal waters by a special ointment called
“vernix”. If the baby were born in this month, given
the proper care, he could survive.
Let us be steadfast in our daily prayer for our
spirituality adopted children.
We wanted to thank all of the sponsors for writing
such beautiful letters that were presented to the kids
at the orphanage in Leogane, Haiti. Even though
most of them were in English, the kids held onto their
letters (and envelopes!) for days. Many letters included family pictures. (A lot of kids had their letters
loosely translated into French.) They all were much
appreciated! Thank you!
Please check out our new bulletin board display. Read some of the trip report posted on the bulletin board - our latest team had a lot going on that
week, including a 2-day strike they had to work
around. There are lots of pictures showing just some
of their hard work. Please visit our website at
www.holyspirithaitimission.org. And join our Facebook group at Holy Spirit Haiti Mission.
Divine Mercy for the Unborn
For all the helpless little children who die in the
womb of their mother, I pray that all of these little
souls will be given eternal life by Our Lord Jesus
Christ, through His Divine Mercy and I beg Jesus
that I be allowed to spiritually baptize a little souls
born dead and I do so by saying: I baptize you (give
baby’s name) in the name of The Father, The Son,
and The Holy Spirit ....
"I have called you by your name, you are mine"

From the Library…
In the 1640s, Jesuit priests of New France
brought Christianity to the Huron Indians of
what is now Ontario, Canada. The Indians
were savagely cruel, torturing, beheading, even eating their enemies. French fighting the English was
nothing compared to Hurons fighting the Iroquois.
But amidst this blood and horror, the priests cared
for the sick, returned love for abuse, baptized thousands. Many of the priests were killed. Eight were
the first in North America to be canonized as saints.
The book Saints of the American Wilderness, based
on actual letters and documents, tells their courageous and sad story.

Check out the Lighthouse Catholic Media in the back of church. We have great
CD’s, Books and Booklets to offer you at a very lost cost. The CD’s are approximately one hour in length. I challenge you to listen to one CD. You will be love it
and come running back for more! They are of excellent quality and you will learn
a lot! Read the description of some of our Books below.
Book: “Rediscover Catholicism.” Beginning with our common yearning for happiness, Rediscover Catholicism takes us on an adventure of
life-changing proportions by addressing some of the most important
questions we face today, both as individuals and as a
Church. Rediscover your Catholic faith in a way that will excite you and
make you proud to be Catholic! $4.00
Book: “Bible Basics for Catholics.” From biblical scholar Dr. John
Bergsma — two-time "Teacher of the Year" from Franciscan University
of Steubenville, OH — comes this fresh, fun, and authentically Catholic
introduction to the "big picture" of salvation history. $4.00
Book: “Confessions of a Mega Church Pastor.” Allen Hunt shares
the insights and details of his 15-year journey into the Catholic
Church. In 2007, Allen stepped aside as pastor of a Methodist congregation that served more than 15,000 persons each week. He entered
the Catholic Church in 2008. His daily talk radio show is heard by over
half a million listeners and is syndicated on 140 stations nationwide.
$4.00
Book: “Crossing the Tiber.” This book is an exhilarating conversion
story of a devout Baptist who relates how he overcame his hostility to
the Catholic Church by a combination of serious Bible study and vast
research of the writings of the early Church Fathers. In addition to a
moving account of their conversion that caused Ray and his wife to
“cross the Tiber” to Rome, he offers an in-depth treatment of Baptism
and the Eucharist in Scripture and the ancient Church. $4.00
10
Book: “The Four Signs of a DYNAMIC CATHOLIC.” As human beings we are constantly engaging and disengaging in everything we do.
We engage and disengage at work, in marriage, as parents, in our
quest for health and well-being, in personal finances, environmentally,
politically, and, of course, we engage or disengage spiritually. If you
walk into any Catholic church next Sunday and look around, you will
discover that some people are highly engaged, others are massively
disengaged, and the majority are somewhere in between. What is the
difference between highly engaged
Answering this question is essential to the future of the Catholic Church. $4.00
Book: “Gangland to Promised Land.” He was a serious "face" in
London's East End. His jackets were tailored to hold his machete and
knuckle-busters. His drug deals made him wealthy. He nearly killed a
man outside a nightclub, but then something extraordinary happened.
$4.00
Book: “The Lamb’s Supper.” The Lamb’s Supper reveals a long-lost
secret of the Church: The early Christians' key to understanding the
mysteries of the Mass was the New Testament Book of Revelation. With
its bizarre imagery, its mystic visions of heaven, and its end-of-time
prophecies, Revelation mirrors the sacrifice and celebration of the Eucharist. Beautifully written, in clear direct language, Dr. Scott Hahn's
best-selling book will help readers see the Mass with new eyes, pray the
liturgy with a renewed heart, and enter into the Mass more fully, enthusiastically, intelligently, and powerfully than ever before. $4.00
Book: “Made for More.” While everything you do – and every decision you make – is aimed at making you happy, you may step back
from time to time and ask yourself, “Why am I here?” and “Is there a
deeper meaning to life?” To find these answers, you need go beyond
the distractions of the world and be open to discovering your true purpose and self-potential. If you find your true purpose, you’ll discover
that you really are “made for more” than what our culture has to offer.
You’ll see life as the adventure it’s meant to be, and you’ll find that you
have an irreplaceable role to play in the world. This will set you on a
path toward true peace and contentment that will last for the rest of your life –and into eternity. $4.00
We have much, much more to offer you! Fall in love with your Catholic Faith with
Lighthouse Catholic Books, Booklets and CD’s!

Invest just five minutes a day, and your faith
will deepen and grow—a day at a time.
SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2015
and spread the Good News. God was living and breathing
in them. As they shared their faith journeys, more and
more light entered the world. By that light, we believe.
And in the light of the Risen Christ, there is hope and
freedom and grace. Today, see the light that shines within
you. Tend the flames of mercy and find the Good News
this day holds!
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 5:17-26; John 3:16-21
(269). “Whoever lives the truth comes to the
light.”

EASTER WEEKDAY
Celebrate God’s abundance
Scripture is replete with images of the abundance of God:
from the widow of Zarephath receiving alabaster jars full
of flour and oil to the miracle of water becoming wine at
the wedding feast in Cana. How might this characteristic
of God inform our own activities? What choices might we
make in our relationships, at work, or standing in line at
the grocery store? How might we live out of God’s abundance even on those days or weeks or years of feeling
like we have less than nothing? Let us nudge our alabaster jar toward God and trust that God will take care of the
rest.
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 5:27-33; John 3:31-36
(270). “God does not ration his gift of the Spirit.”
FRIDAY, APRIL 17
FEAST OF KATERI TEKAKWITHA; EASTER WEEKDAY
Things that go bump set us right
The smallpox Kateri suffered as a child left her with a
scarred face and near blindness, hence her name
Tekakwitha—“She who bumps into things,” which seems
cruel, but also might be a reminder of unpredictable
grace. Years ago, when the bumper sticker “S*** happens” was popular, Bishop Richard Sklba countered such
a defeatist attitude by reminding us that “Grace happens”
too. What we bump into and what bumps into us every
day are countless opportunities to wake up to God’s
grace at work. Maybe you will “bump into” a neighbor or
stranger to whom you can be of some service today.
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 5:34-42; John 6:1-15
(271). “Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks,
and distributed them to those who were reclining.”
SATURDAY, APRIL 18
Community with a capital “C”
The church is built on community. Together, the People of
God welcome new members in Baptism, come together to
be fed in the Eucharist, and witness faith proclaimed at
Confirmation. Such community nurtures, supports, and
affirms the universality and unity of church. When gathering around the table to celebrate, give thanks, and worship, it is helpful from time to time to look and see those
around us. Who isn’t present? Who isn’t being served at
the table? Who have I shut out? Our call is to spread the
Good News . . . and sometimes the greatest news is that
all are welcome.
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 6:1-7; John 6:16-21
(272). “It is I. Do not be afraid.”
SOLEMNITY OF THE SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER (OR SUNDAY OF DIVINE MERCY)
We are stronger for the scars
There’s a classic scene in the 1975 movie Jaws where
Quint, Hooper, and Brody are at sea, comparing the scars
they have. From a moray eel bite to an arm-wrestling
match, each scar contains the memory of great physical
and emotional pain. Their conversation is more than a
friendly game of bettering the other (“I got that beat!”); it’s
a way of sharing and weaving together significant stories
on their journey. The scars we have witness not only to
hardship but also to resilience! Consider the scars that
you bear. How might they impart meaning to yourself and
to others?
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 4:32-35; 1 John 5:1-6;
John 20:19-31 (44). “Then Jesus said to Thomas,
“ ‘Put your finger here and see my hands, and
bring your hand and put it into my side, and do
not be unbelieving, but believe.’ ”
MONDAY, APRIL 13
FEAST OF M ARTIN I, POPE, MARTYR; EASTER WEEKDAY
Choose the good
Get a powerful person angry and you often pay a penalty.
Martin I became the last pope-martyr for accepting his
election without waiting for the emperor’s approval. That
“mistake” was followed quickly by another: Martin condemned a notion the emperor favored. Folks like the emperor preferred to think of Christ’s humanity as dissolving
“like a drop of honey in the sea” of his divinity—rendering
Christ’s free choice to save us as no choice at all. Goodness must always be chosen, which makes us truly human and not puppets—as emperors then and now would
like us to be.
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 4:23-31; John 3:1-8
(267). “What is born of flesh is flesh and what is
born of spirit is spirit.”
TUESDAY, APRIL 14
EASTER WEEKDAY
Leap of faith
There is a folksy saying, attributed to many different ethnic groups, that goes: “Every baby is born with a loaf of
bread under his arm.” In so many words, it means that
God will provide, even if you’re not exactly sure how. It’s
difficult to let go of worry in the face of uncertainty, whether it’s being able to care for a child or to handle any important responsibility. Your willingness to try, despite your
fears, without knowing the outcome, shows faith. Trust
that God will see you through it.
TODAY’S READINGS: Acts 4:32-37; John 3:7b-15
(268). “There was no needy person among them
… the proceeds … were distributed to each according to need.”
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15
Light the way
As the days of Easter continue, the light of the Easter
dawn shines brightly. That light revealed that Christ had
risen and, in the light of day, called his disciples to go out
