Mr. Hunsinger’s Words of Wisdom
Well here we are, well into April and the 2014-15 year is rapidly coming to a close. The kids
are all getting back to regular weeks of instruction now that the bad weather is finally behind
us. Let’ s continue to work together as we move into the final weeks of this school year.
The Art Show was outstanding. I can not say enough about the multitalented students we
have here at this great school. Very few other schools have events like this and the dedication
of our staff is second to no others. Parent volunteers, staff, and especially our Art teachers put
many hours of dedication and hard work into our night of the Arts. The notes to students from
parents were really great to see and read.
The annual Spring Fling is being held this Friday in and around the Homestead building campus. Please try to volunteer for this event and help out in some way. We really need volunteers and it does not matter if you can work for an hour or for three hours, we need you. On a
personal note I am really sorry to say I will miss the Spring Fling because on that Friday I will be
at the state Elementary Principal’s conference. I always take pride in attending every PTA
meeting, school concert, Art show, Ironbird’s game and all the other school events along with
my other administrators. We all take pride in all school undertakings and unless there is another activity that we must attend, we will be at the HWES event. Great leadership by Alison
March and Kelly nelson on such a large undertaking!
Kindergarten and Pre k registration is set for Friday, May 1st. If you have not received a packet
or an appointment yet, please contact the school office.
I want you to know that our lead secretary for the past several years, Sandi Connor, is retiring
on May 1st. I appreciate all Sandi has done over the years to help make our school run so
smoothly. She will be missed and we wish her all the best in the future. I am glad to say that
our new lead secretary will be Jodi Esbrandt, who will move from her 10 month position to the
Lead Position.
Our cases of head lice have diminished this school year as opposed to previous years. Please
continue to check your children’s heads on a regular basis. If you find any live lice please share
this information with our school nurses as soon as possible.

MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR ALL 5TH GRADERS
Information about the Bel Air Middle School "Jump Start to Success Program" was sent home with all 5th graders who will be attending that school next year. The flyers were given to students by Mrs. Sullivan (School Counselor) on Friday, April 10th. The registration forms are due back by Thursday, April 30th. Please ask your child
for the flyer.
Information about the Patterson Mill Middle School program will be included with your child's information
packet that they will receive at the orientation/tour on Thursday, May 28th. Be sure to look for it.
Both BAMS and PMMS tours and orientations will take place on Thursday, May 28th. Students going to BAMS
will walk over to the campus on that day. Students going to PMMS will go by bus and will need a parent permission slip signed before that date. Those will be coming home as the day gets closer.
If your child plans to attend a different middle school for 6th grade, they will be invited to attend the tour at Bel
Air Middle School. If it is a middle school other than a private school, arrangements can be made to be able to
attend their orientation. Please let Mrs. Brenna Sullivan know and she will help you make those arrangements.
