Friendship for the Heart

HBC Women’s

1 Peter 1:22
My Name is … Rhoda Howell
Rhoda Howell is relatively new to the HBC
family. She was born in
northern Missouri where
she lived in Palmyra until she was 8 years old.
Her family then moved
to Licking, Missouri, a
small town in the south-central part of the state. In
2003, she came to the St. Louis area. Her parents
raised her in a Christian home where they lived out
what they believed.
She just recently had her birthday, May 8th. She
met her husband, Dave, at a Bible study in the fall of
2013, and were married on October 11, 2014. They
are expecting their first child, a girl, due August 14.
Rhoda is very busy as she has worked as a production editor for 8 years. She works for a medical publisher and manages the production of medical textbooks. Her hobbies are tennis and traveling.
Her favorite verse is Psalm 89:9, “Thou rulest the
raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou
stillest them.” Rhoda said. “My recent blessing is marrying my sweetheart, turning 30, and a little baby in my
womb.”

Fathers Can Be Solitary Mountains
Fathers can be solitary mountains,
All their love rock-like, steep, and strong.
Though warm and caring, somehow they belong
Halfway home to mother’s bubbling fountains.
Each of us needs love that knows no quarter,
Reminding us of bonds that cross a border,
Strengthening our sense of right and wrong.
