JOB DESCRIPTION Marketing Manager Vacancy Ref: A1230 Job Title: Marketing Manager Department/College: Present Grade: 8 Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) Directly responsible to: Head of Administration, LUMS Supervisory responsibility for: Web and Marketing Assistant (LUMS) Other contacts Internal: Director of Communications and Marketing, Head of Marketing, Web Manager, LUMS, Senior Management Team, Faculty and departmental staff, Professional Services staff, External: External agencies, suppliers and providers, other institutions and organisations as appropriate. The Role The Marketing Manager will support the development of the LUMS marketing strategy in association with the Dean’s Steering Group, The University’s Director of Communications and Marketing and the Head of Marketing. They will also lead the delivery of marketing activity covering integrated marketing campaigns, development of targeted marketing materials and content and managing brand consistency. The post holder will provide an active lead in planning, developing and managing marketing activities for LUMS in order to achieve agreed objectives particularly those associated with student recruitment. Major Duties In association with the LU Head of Marketing, develop and implement a marketing strategy for LUMS and supporting plans across the full range of business. Manage marketing activity dedicated to raising the profile of LUMS. Promote and develop best practice in marketing activity. Manage the relationship between LUMS Marketing team, the central University Marketing team and colleagues involved in marketing activities across the School. Develop and deliver a marketing activity calendar for LUMS to ensure on-time delivery and return on investment. Manage the development of marketing content to support effective promotion of courses and the School offering in general including written copy, video and photography. Develop integrated campaigns using the full marketing mix to drive student recruitment and brand profile, working with the Head of Marketing, the LUMS Professional Management Group, Programme Directors and Heads of Department. Review and develop effective, engaging marketing materials to drive student recruitment. Make effective use of advertising and other external agencies in the production of marketing collateral (including prospectuses). Ensure a strong link between the marketing and web activities. Facilitate commission or conduct market research and contribute to portfolio review. Be responsible for the LUMS marketing budget. Manage and further build the LUMS brand Ensure brand consistency across LUMS marketing materials and provide brand guidance to colleagues. Ensure brand guidelines are accessible to all internal colleagues. Support the University’s communication strategy and support the provision of good, effective internal communications in LUMS. Work with the Press Office, external agencies and marketing and web colleagues to further build the School’s profile in the electronic, print and broadcast media and ensure effective promotion of our achievements. Any other duties as required by the Head of School Administration.
