WARATAH NEWS – 19th March, 2015
CRAZY HAIR DAY
Principal’s Message
CRAZY HAIR DAY
On Wednesday the SRC led our charity fund raising
‘CRAZY HAIR DAY’. Thanks to Mr Scallone who
provided the expertise on our willing celebrity
shaves , Ms Tiari and Mr Chen. Mrs Jeffrey had her
plaits cut off and the hair will be donated for
making wigs for cancer sufferers.
Luckily I have some wigs that I am happy to lend
this crazy, but brave pair of teachers if they need
them.
All funds raised will go to the charity selected by
the SRC. Just over $700!
EASTER EGG DONATIONS
Please keep those generous donations of the Easter
Eggs and sold raffle books coming in as the
volunteer parent team will put the baskets
together on the Monday 30th March ready for the
Great Easter Hat Parade on Wednesday 1st April (is
that April Fools Day??).
This will be a major fund raising event for our
school so please support us as together we make
Hurstville South, second to none!
INTERRLEATE FAMILY SESSIONS
Years 3-6
Tuesday 31st March 6:00pm
Please find the very important Interrelate Family
Sessions information flyer in your child’s bag. All
money is to be returned to the school along with
the booking form or pay on the night. This is a
parent and child event.
The last time we held these was in 2013 and they
were very well received. The talk and screening
will take place in the lower Denman hall with the
first session Where Do I Come From? (for Year 3 &
Year 4) starting promptly at 6:00pm, this is
followed by the Year 5 & 6 program, Preparing for
Puberty starting at 7:15pm. The interrelate
sessions are very professionally handled and I
highly recommend them to families and are very
good value at $25 for one or $30 for both.
The next presentation at our school will not take
place until 2017.
P&C ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
(AGM)
Our wonderful P&C will meet next Tuesday
evening (24th March) to hold our AGM. At this
meeting a report is given on the achievements
and goals of the P&C during a very productive
2014, the current executive will stand down and
we open up these positions for voting.
If you have some interest in this, please come
along to the meeting starting at 7:00pm.
PLAYGROUND RESURFACING
During next week we will have some disruptions
to our playground as a team of workers have
been contracted to come in and resurface some
of our playground where the roots from trees and
subsidence have made the play surface very
uneven.
The works are scheduled to begin next Tuesday
(24th) and we are hopeful that the job will be
completed by the weekend. In the interests of
safety, there will be some changes to movement
and play areas during this time and I ask for your
assistance with this.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (EOI)
FOR YEAR 7 2016
Year 7
Could all Year 6 students ensure that their EOI for
placement in secondary school for 2016 be
returned to Mr Rouland by Friday 20th March.
Regardless of whether your child is hoping to go
to a Selective High School or a non-government
high school, we need those forms so that we can
track your progress as we have to comply with
government regulations.
HARMONY DAY
Mrs Wilson is preparing to have our
school recognise Harmony Day on Monday 23rd
March (at next week’s assembly). All students
are encouraged to wear something of an orange
colour on this day. Parents as always are most
welcome.
