OBJECTIVES
This Conference will provide a platform for contributors to trade ideas and best practice on
intellectual property rights and innovation in the business & academic sector. The subjects, around
which this convention will be based on, have been grouped into categories listed below followed
by a brief description of the terms:
v Business Innovation for Sustainability: In emerging economies, business innovation has been
instrumental in delivering more efficient services and deploying new business models
effectively for promoting scientific & strategic innovations for reducing the costs of products
and services in less affluent societies and on mass-scalable levels.
v Data analytics to improve Customer experience: Data analysis is a procedure for attaining
unrefined data and renovating it into information valuable for decision-making by users. Data
is gathered and studied deeply to answer problems, test hypotheses or validate theories.
v Incubation to create new SME test beds: Discuss case studies of successful and sustainable
incubation models that have supported economies during crisis and provided new SME test
beds thereby adding to the existing product lines of the large Corporations. Discuss
frameworks to bring Corporate, Government and Academia on same delivery platform.
v Techno-commercial Innovations: The convention will examine case studies which demonstrate
some of the possibilities arising from the balanced use of intellectual property rights to act as
an incentive for innovation and technology transfer, and a common basis of mutual benefit
among partners. It aims to provide indispensable support to the candidates for overcoming
trivial concerns similar to testing of the product, substantiation of effects in field conditions,
upgrading of models and preparation of comprehensive know-how documents.
v Technology transfer for Public Good: Technology transfer is the practice of transporting
methodical findings, skills, samples of manufacturing and knowledge from one association to
another for the function of further expansion and commercialization. Submit papers on

in the best interest of the institution and its associates and the public it serves, IPR can be
monetized and generate wealth for the innovators.
ICII aims to achieve the following outcomes:

A horizon scans of existing and potential actors in the field.
·
An assessment of active and possible activity addressing enforcement of IPR & Innovation as
well as other themes mentioned above.
·
The initiation of targeted partnerships among different kinds of institutions.
·
To identify lessons and constraints in implementing IPR.
WORK DONE ON IPR
The CBI at the IICA conceptualized and successfully executed the Innovators’ Roundtable. It focused at
IP protection, policies and guidelines and was organized in the year of 2013. The Innovators’
roundtable brings together practitioners of innovation to discuss issues pertinent to their growth; the
proceedings of the roundtable, participants’ feedback and the thought paper have been compiled. As
a result, number of positive steps have been enlisted which can chalk the unbeaten path for India to
become a superpower. IICA is also in the process of setting up an IPR Commercialization cell for
MSMEs on its campus.
CONVENTION FORMAT
The conference will adopt the form of a dialogue. Each topic will be discussed separately and in
sequence by all the participants. Each paper will pose questions to the participants to start a
dialogue. The papers can identify sub-themes for its treatment in smaller groups within a topic. The
authors of the papers will be invited as key note speakers. A dialogue seeks to collectively arrive to
answers to the questions. It is not the same as a debate in which the participants are trying to prove
the validity of their propositions. A dialogue is a common search for meaning as ways of addressing
common challenges. Participants will then be invited to share their national experience in addressing
the challenges under analysis. Professional facilitators will be hired to orient the dialogues towards
identifying answers to the questions.
The conference will have a space for open exchange of experiences in the way of posters, stands and
B2B sessions, therefore opening opportunities for direct interaction in addition to the more structured
dialogues. Each poster or stand will be preceded by the presentation of extended abstracts (2-4
pages) in which the participants will describe the role played by the institutions in addressing one of
