Introductory Paragraph Start with three to four GENERIC sentences about WWII/The Holocaust. Ex. World War II was a horrific war led by the dictator Adolf Hitler. It was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. Blah blah blah… Next write a sentence or two that leads into your specific topic(s). Ex. Many bloody battles were fought during World War II. There were numerous air, land, and sea attacks. Finally, write a VERY SPECIFIC THESIS STATEMENT OR TWO that pertains to your topic. These statements will let the reader know exactly what he/she will be learning about in your paper. Ex. The battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima were significant to the Allies winning the war. NEVER EVER EVER… …start a paper by saying “Hi, my name is…”. We are not in elementary school AND we are not the rapper Eminem! NEVER EVER EVER… …include in the introduction ANYTHING similar to “In this paper I will discuss…” or “Today I am writing about…” Your teachers are smart enough to know what your papers are about by reading your introductions!
