Instructional Management Program & Academic Communication Tool Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten in SIM Summer Summer Bridge Overview The Office of Early Childhood Education manages the Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten summer program. Participants in the Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten program must be enrolled and scheduled in SIM Summer. Student Demographics in SIM Summer A limited set of student demographic and services data will be available in SIM Summer. For example: student full name, student ID number, home address, telephone number, date of birth, grade level, and zoned school. Student demographic data should not be edited in SIM Summer. It must be edited in SIM. SIM Summer Location SIM Summer is located on the Summer School tab at http://impact.cps.k12.il.us/summerschool.asp ∗ Summer School Icon will appear in color as shown above when SIM Summer has been activated SIM Summer Access Principals and assistant principals will receive access to SIM Summer automatically. Administration can complete school set‐up steps, enrolling and schedule non‐Bridge students when SIM Summer is activated. The Office of Early Childhood Education will manage the teacher entry under the Department of Payroll’s Supplemental Payroll System (SPS). IMPACT will grant access to SIM Summer based on teacher entry under SPS. Access to the school of summer employment will be available in SIM Summer approximately 72 hours after a teacher has been entered in SPS. Employees will be granted access based on their summer employment position; not regular school year position. IMPACT – Summer School 2011 Chicago Public Schools Instructional Management Program & Academic Communication Tool Registration IMPACT will automatically register all elementary students who are active as of June 2, 2011 into SIM Summer. District‐level registrations after June 2 will be ‘swept’ into SIM Summer through a nightly process. Recommendation! It is recommended that participants be pre‐enrolled in SIM under their 2011‐2012 school for Kindergarten. In order for Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten participants to be enrolled in SIM Summer, they must be registered in SIM at the district level. Enrollment All students participating in the Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten program must be manually enrolled under the school they are attending in SIM Summer. Summer school clerks should follow standard enrollment procedures and withdrawal procedures for summer school students. Elementary School Configuration in SIM Summer Summer school administration will be responsible for completing the school level set‐up, configuration and scheduling steps in SIM Summer. Summer school administration should ensure attendance is current and accurate. Grades Step‐Up‐to‐Kindergarten participants will not receive a summer grade, mid‐summer program report or a summer semester report card.
