How do you know if you have an device? Insert the SIM card into your device. If your device indicates a provider (eg Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile) then your device is unlocked. If your device displays a different message, your device is locked. In addition, your device needs to support the correct frequency in order to call and / or use the internet. Worldwide providers use of several GSM networks (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz). The GSM1800 network is widely used in Europe, the GSM850 network often in South America and Asia and the GSM1900 network especially in North America. To use your GSM anywhere in the world you will need a quad-band phone. For "faster" 3G, Internet Providers use the UMTS network (850/900/1700-AWS 1900/2100 Mhz.) It is the successor to the 3G standard. 4G is still limited globally available. Often a provider locks a cellular phone Unlocking your Device Unlocking your device is an easy process, it simply involves dialing a code on your phone’s keypad. Most mobile phone operators will give you the unlock code and step-by-step instructions right over the phone. Internet: You can activate your Ortel Mobile SIM card in 10 different languages at http://www.ortelmobile.de/en/sim-card/activation.html To activate your SIM card, you require the following information: Your phone number (provided in the starter set) Your SIM card number (provided in the starter set) Your address (please insert a German address e.g. hotel address) Your date of birth Please enter these details during the SIM card registration process. Activating the SIM card can take up to one hour after you have completed the registration process. Put your Ortel Mobile SIM card in your mobile phone and enter the PIN code. You will find the PIN code on the back of the SIM card holder. If you have no network coverage, switch your phone off and back on again. Your balance will be displayed on your mobile phone screen immediately. SIM Card & Prepaid Validity In case there is no credit left on your SIM, you will be unable to call, send Text messages and/or use the internet. You can still receive Text messages, phone calls and use emergency numbers. After 3 months your SIM will be deactivated. Coverage: Ortel Mobile uses the high-performance network operated by E-Plus Mobilfunk. This means that you will benefit from outstanding call quality and network coverage. E-Plus network currently covers 98% of the German population.. Roaming: Roaming is allowed. Whenever you reside in Germany you will be available on the same German number. The 1155 number doesn’t work outside Germany. In case you go abroad you can call +49 177 1155.
