Dearly beloved members of Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, Doha
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We are entering into a new financial year. Thank God for His blessings on the year
2014-2015. I give thanks to the office bearers and kaisthana samithy members for
their service in the church. God may help us to serve Him with courage and faith in
the New financial year.
Christian life is a victorious life. But it entails discipline and determination to run this
race. Being already on the run up to inherit the glorious rewards set for us in eternity,
we need to be alert to progress steadily. There is always pressure to get distracted and
to take a digressive course but only those who pursue with single-minded purpose
will make it. Nevertheless, it is our all-compassionate God who fulfills His purposes in
us and who never fails to restore the strayed and the stranded.
Two complementary aspects of God’s grace is very much on view here in Jonah’s
story: one His sovereignty and the other His compassion. Being the Creator, He
commanded the wind, the great fish and the vine-and all obeyed Him underscoring
His over-arching supremacy. But this great God is mindful of man! He showed mercy
to the erring Jonah and reinstated him. The Bible portrays time and again a glaring
contrast between God and man: God who is true to His character and the failing
man; faithful God, unfaithful man; never changing God, fickle-minded man; everwaiting God, easily frustrating man and never-failing God, ever-faltering man.

Message from Shibu Achen
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus. Wish you a Happy and Blessed Easter.
Easter rewrites the myth that there is nothing beyond the grave. William Shakespeare
said that death is an unknown territory from which no traveler returns. But we do know
that one traveler did return, and that is Christ Jesus. Resurrection of Christ is the corner
stone of our faith. In Christ we have been redeemed, our sins have been forgiven and
we have been given the grace to stand before God as sons and daughters. Our worship
is the celebration of this great joy. In worship we glorify God for the salvation in Christ.
Easter becomes evident through the living witness of His people. Here the mission of the
church becomes relevant. Resurrection becomes convincing to others by our witnessing
to it through our life.
This is my last writing, addressing to you through the parish bulletin. After the three years
of service as Assistant Vicar in this parish, we move to Ebenezar Mar Thoma Church,
Jalahally, Bangalore, by April 25th. It was a blessed experience to serve among this
Diaspora Mar Thoma community, in Qatar. We got many opportunities and facilities to
worship God Almighty in this foreign land. Let us praise God and I do thank for the life
and work of everyone who worked hard behind the formation and growth of this parish.
Also, I thank and praise God for the rulers and Government machineries.
I consider it was a privilege that God has given to us to be a part of your faith life as well
as your life’s sorrows and happiness. I extend my sincere thanks and love to all of you. I do
thank, especially the members of various organisations and The Managing Committee
of the parish. Almighty God used me to start two new organisations in this parish
namely Young Couples’ Fellowship and Christian Medical Forum. Apart from the church
activities, God has given me many opportunities to represent the Christians in various
platforms outside the parish. I do wish Rev. George John and family, my successor, a
blessed and fruitful ministry here. I express my gratitude to my former colleague Rev.
Mathew Skaria and the present vicar Rev. P.S. Yesudasan and their families, for their
fellowship that extended towards us.
Once again, along with my wife Shiny, children-Achu and Munna, I thank each and
every one of you for your love, support and fellowship that you have extended to me and
my family during the last three years. Kindly uphold us in your prayers. May God bless
you all.

Our Asst.Vicar Rev.Shibu O Plavila will be completing his tenure on the month
of April and he is transferring to Ebenezer MTC - Jalahalli, Bangalore. We thank
Achen for his good leadership and foresight in shepherding us through the
last 3 years. We are grateful for the good support and enthusiasm extended by
Achen and Kochamma in the day to day activities of the Parish and towards
his ministry. On behalf of Immanuel MTC-Doha, we thank Shibu Achen, Shiny

Dear Parish members,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ.
As we have come to an end of the financial year 2014-2015, throughout the year the
Lord has blessed us abundantly and guided us in all Church activities. As Generosity
and social welfare are important in Christian life, we tried our best to fulfil the
commitment to our society. We thank Almighty for helping us to carry-out these
responsibilities in the best possible way as a part of God’s ministry. At the end of our
tenure we here conveying our sincere gratitude to the vicars and the parish members
for the kind support and co-operation extended to us throughout the last year.
I take this opportunity to convey our profound gratitude and sincere thanks to Shibu
Achen and family, for their valuable services and leadership given to our Parish for the
last 3 years. Also welcoming George John Achen & Family to our Church as new Asst.
Vicar and greeting him a very best wishes to lead us for the next 3 years.
Last quarter we are blessed with the honourable presence of our Diocesan Bishop
Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Suffragan Metropolitan to lead the various
programmes of our Church.
May God bless the office bearers and Kaisthana Samithy members of the year 20152016 and strengthen them to fulfil their dreams about our Church. We extend our
support to them for the growth of our Parish and continue to grow in the Grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a common medical condition which is due to lack of Insulin
production from the pancreas. Insulin is required for breakdown of
glucose in the body.
What are the symptoms of diabetes?
Usually presents with weight loss, increase thirst, increasing frequency
of passing urine, feeling tiered, wounds not healing soon, recurrent
skin infections, blurring of vision. However, it can present without any
symptoms.
Who are at Risk for developing diabetes?
Overweight
Family history of diabetes
Lack of physical activity
Poor diet
Advancing age
High blood glucose during pregnancy.
Are there different types of diabetes?
type 1 Diabetes – complete lack of Insulin, diagnosed at early age and
needs Insulin as treatment
Type 2 Diabetes – Usually occurs later in life, can be treated with
tablets initially but may need Insulin later as disease progress.
Gestational Diabetes – Diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy, Usually
treated with Insulin and tablets. Need regular follow up dialectologist
during pregnancy.
How is diabetes Diagnosed?
Diagnosed by blood test:
Fasting Blood sugar ≥7mmol/L or 126 mg/dL
2hr post meal blood sugar ≥ 11.1mmol/L or 200mg/dL
HBA1C ≥ 6.5%
Gestational Diabetes is usually diagnosed by Glucose
tolerance test(GTT).

Why is it important to treat Diabetes?
Persistently high blood sugar can damage the blood vessels and nerves
which then can cause complications to kidney, eyes, heart , Foot,
nerves etc. To prevent or delay such complications it is important to
treat diabetes adequately.
How is diabetes treated?
Diet and lifestyle changes.
Depending on the type of diabetes your health care professional may use tablets or Insulin.
Patients can use a glucometer to monitor blood sugars.
