MOST Mentor Application 2015-2016 The Mississippi Outreach to Scholastic Talent (MOST) Mentoring Program will match incoming freshmen and high school seniors of color with an upperclassmen mentor. Mentors will help to guide and support students through the admission process into the University of Mississippi and throughout their freshmen year. During the summer, the University hosts the MOST Conference. The goal of the summer conference is to expose prospective students of color to leadership activities, academic offerings, campus resources, faculty, staff, and student leaders. Mentors will stay in contact with their mentees during the application and financial aid process and assist them with move-in and orientation during the following fall semester. Through e-mail, social media contacts, scheduled events, and 1:1 meetings, mentors will provide additional support for the prospective and first-year students that enables them to complete their first year at the University and on a course toward graduation. Although the MOST Mentor Program is a partnership with the MOST Conference, all incoming students of color are able to take part in the MOST Mentor Program. The MOST Mentoring Program will serve as a vital component to the academic and personal success for students and because of this, the MOST Program will hold its’ mentors to the highest of standards. To be considered for selection for the MOST Mentor Program, a candidate must be a full-time, rising sophomore, junior or senior at The University of Mississippi. Mentors must have a minimum of 2.75 cumulative grade point average and be in good academic and disciplinary standing. If selected to serve as a MOST Mentor, it will be required of all mentors to attend mandatory training sessions during the month of April.
