The city bike season is open
A sure sign that spring is coming: the blue city bikes are finally back on the
streets!
A bike card for 2015 costs 120 Norwegian kroner and can be purchased or
renewed here.
The card can be used to get a bike from any of the bike stations in the city. You
can keep the bike for three hours before you have to return it.
There are now over 100 bike stations in Oslo, placed strategically in all corners
of the city centre and the surrounding areas - from Skøyen and Bygdøy in the
west, to Gamlebyen and Carl Berner in the east, and Ullevål and Torshov in the
north. The stations are open between 06.00 hours and midnight every day until
winter.

April 23: Oslo Walking Tour: From pub to pub
Oslo has many charming and exciting pubs. Most are located in the city center
either near to Karl Johan but also in the area of “Kvadraturen”. Starting at the top
of the Plaza hotel with a fabulous overview of the city and continuing to something
more “brown” in Kvadraturen.
We will walk from pub to pub hearing interesting stories about people, events, and
not least the beer history and drinking traditions in Norway through the ages.

Oslo Open 2015: Open art studios, April 18 – 19 from 12.00 – 18.00
Once every year, Oslo’s professional artists open their studios to the public,
providing a valuable, non-curated encounter with their art at the very place
where it is made.
Oslo open also offers concerts, performances, a film programme and a
children’s festival.

Flea Markets
In Norway, most flea markets are held at/by schools, who use them to raise
money for equipment, for example. Parents donate items such as clothes or
sports equipment which are later sold in the school hall/playground.
It is possible to get many quality items for a really low price, even though
there may be a lot of digging around. We recommend going to these flea
markets on Saturday, as most of the good stuff will be gone by Sunday.
The flea market spring season has already started and on this website you
will find a good list of all the flea markets happening every weekend in Oslo.

Oslo Grieg Festival 2015, April 18 - 28
Oslo Grieg Festival is one of the Oslo Grieg Society’s most important initiatives.
The Oslo Grieg Festival 2014 will be the fifteenth in the series, arranged in
close cooperation with the National Museum in Oslo. The concerts take place
at different venues in the city.

Arab Film Days, Victoria Kino, April 16 - 19
Arab Film Days film festival shows the latest and best in movies from the
Arab world. Through a selection of movies and documentaries, the festival
sheds light on the developments in one of the world’s most underestimated

Stacey Kent, Cosmopolite, April 17 at 20.00
Many consider Stacey Kent to be one of the truly great jazz discoveries of the previous
decade. She was named jazz vocalist of the year in England, and was recently also
nominated for an American Grammy. She has been compared to the legendary
female jazz singers, and has toured the world with great success.

Stanley Clarke Band, Cosmopolite, April 16 at 20.00
Four-time Grammy winner Stanley Clarke is quite possibly the most celebrated
acoustic and electric bassist in the world. As a performer, composer, conductor,
arranger, recording artist, producer, and film scorer known for his ferocious dexterity
and consummate musicality, Clarke is a true pioneer in jazz and of the bass itself.

BOO! Children’s Festival, April 18 - 19
Barnas Oslo Open (BOO!) consists of a series of art workshops for children and youth,
which are part of the Oslo Open art festival. The children are invited to visit the studios
of different artists, where they will learn about the artist’s work and create their own
art based on a concept developed by the artist they visit.

Ø is a festival for up-and-coming bands from all over Østfold.
In 2014, Festival Ø was held in Fredrikstad, with great reception from both audience and
artists.
In 2015 the festival heads down to Halden, with the singer/songwriter evening at Bryggerhuset

Marked Anno 1700, Tøihuset, April 18 from 10.00 – 18.00
Now you have a unique opportunity to experience a market as in the 1700s - from
our standpoint in 2015.
You will get a glimpse of how trade was like in the old days in Tøihussalen in the
Old Town. There you will find a range of products from the 1700s, such as baroque
shoes and dresses, ointments and creams, spice cake, books, buttons, knitted
garments, new fabrics and yarn. Antiques, replicas of edged weapons, handmade
knives and leather bags, clothing and props from the Norwegian Chamber Opera
and many other unique objects will also be for sale.
