Purpose of Installing Lateral
during Main Line Construction
• Minimize construction impact to the
road
• Preserve the life span of the road by
preventing cutting and patching at
different times
• Reduce future costs to owners
installing lateral at a later date

Development Driven or Capital
Projects
When development occurs or new mains
are installed by the Town
• Cost to owners on servicing route:
- Service Lateral (water or sewer)
- Connection Charge for water or sanitary
sewer servicing based on area of Town

Local Service Improvement
Project
• Owners petition for servicing if their
street is un-serviced
• Costs are shared by properties on
servicing route:
- Service Lateral (water or sewer)
- Share of design and construction costs for main
- Connection Charge for water or sanitary sewer
servicing based on area of Town

Lateral Costs Include:
• Material for Pipe • Road Restoration
– Fittings
– Connection to the
new main
– Gravel
– Asphalt
– Grading
Total Approximate Cost: $6,000

One-Time Connection Charge
• A calculation based on the expected
cost to maintain & upgrade pipes and
the Water or Wastewater facilities.
• Each servicing area in the Town is
different. Rates can be found in the
Development Charges Pamphlet

Other Costs to Property Owners
• Building Permit (approx. $100)
• Connection from property line to house by
Owner’s contractor (approx. $5,000)
• Water meter (approx. $400)
• User Rates billed monthly and appear on your
InnPower bill based on water consumption
(average household $85/month)

Payment Options
• Full payment upon completion;
or
• Payment with interest through a
special levy on the annual property tax
bill over 10 years.
