March 26, 2015 The Results Are In: Physician Communication Survey By Damian P. “Pat” Alagia, MD Chief Physician Executive Thank you to everyone who participated in the KentuckyOne Health Physician Communication Survey in January and February. A total of 173 people completed the SurveyMonkey survey, including 123 physicians, 22 advanced practice clinicians and 28 non-clinical staff. Results revealed we’re on the right track in some areas, and in need of improvement in others. I want to share what we learned and what we plan to do as a result. Learn more… Wave 3 Cerner Facilities Launch My OneCare Patient Portal On March 18, Louisville-based facilities launched the My OneCare patient portal. My OneCare offers patients personalized and secure online access to view a summary of their recent hospital or medical center visit. Visit information includes a summary of the condition that prompted the visit, along with any medications, allergies, adverse reactions or alerts. In the future, additional My OneCare patient portal features will include a way to schedule appointments, request prescription refills and perform other functions. Read more… Transitioning to ICD-10 Documentation Tips ICD-10 will change the way patient care is documented. Providers will need to include more specific information to tell a complete story. For example, for a patient with back pain, in ICD-10 the provider will need to: Specify the site (e.g. low back, thoracic, cervical, etc.) State the laterality when applicable Identify the underlying cause of the pain Differentiate between panniculitis and radiculopathy Detail when lumbago is accompanied by sciatica Click here for more information on ICD-10.
