Dear Parents/Guardians:
Spring is finally upon us and we are quickly approaching the final six weeks of the 2014-2015 school year.
Spring break will be April 3rd through April 6th. The end of the marking period will be April 16th, and April 17th
will be a teacher workday. Report cards will be sent home with students on April 24th. If you have questions
about grades, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Included with this newsletter are the
calendars for April, May and June.
End of Course SOL testing will be scheduled for mid-May. Please make every effort to have your student(s)
here during the testing window.
Congratulations to the class of 2015! Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 31st, at 2:00 p.m. in the new
gymnasium. Prior to this event, there are numerous activities scheduled for our seniors such as graduation
practice, cap and gown pictures, delivery of graduation items, etc. Parents/guardians of seniors are asked to
help us make certain they are well informed of the dates and times for these activities. It is imperative that
each senior have a cap and gown for the group picture and for the graduation ceremony.
I would like to remind parents that student achievement goes hand-in-hand with regular attendance. Please
make sure you are familiar with the attendance policy at the high school. If your child misses school or class,
be certain to call the school or send a note with them.
With your help, we will work together to ensure that the remainder of this school year will be successful for
all of our students. We appreciate your efforts and as always, please feel free to call or stop by if you have
questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
G. Tony Deibler

Congratulations Seniors!
Well done class of 2015! Another year at Floyd County High School is set to finish on May
29th. Thanks to all of the people who made this school year successful.
As we say goodbye to the class of 2015, a new eighth grade class will soon be walking our halls. When you
return to school in the fall, be sure to help out the newcomers as it was not so long ago that you too were
new.
Although we are talking about the end, it is still important to focus on a strong finish. Now is the time to ask
for help if you need it. Don’t be a stranger to your teachers, counselors, or the library! Use the resources
available to you.
Plan your summer…
Volunteer. There are many amazing opportunities to give back to your community by volunteering. Speak to
the local hospital, nursing home, or parks / recreation department to see what you are able to do.
Get a job. Earning money can give one a great sense of accomplishment plus you may learn some valuable
life skills.
College. It is never too early to think about colleges. Take a road trip with your family and start to gather
information about schools you think you are interested in.
The guidance office receives information about opportunities for students. Please listen to the
announcements or stop by the guidance office.
