Planning Ahead
Hours
Mon.–Fri. 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
Saturdays 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sundays 1 p.m.–5 p.m.
The library is continually evolving. Among other things, the growth of technology,
popularity of ebooks, and the needs of our community require the library to continually
refine its services. To aid in determining where to focus our energy, time, and resources,
the library staff and trustees have been working together to develop a strategic plan that
will guide the library during the next three fiscal years.
Drive-up book returns are always open.
Library Closings
Sunday, May 24
Monday, May 25
Saturday, July 4
The process started last fall as we gathered information from a community survey,
held staff and trustee focus groups, interviewed a number of leaders in the community,
examined library usage, and studied community trends. We’ve identified five key
priorities for the next three years:
•
Deliver an exceptional library user experience.
•
Inspire learning, discovery, and creativity.
•
Enhance community engagement.
•
Practice exceptional organizational stewardship.
•
Inspire the community to explore the full range of library services.
The trustees and staff are currently developing the strategies and goals which will move
the library forward and ensure it is responsive to our residents. The complete plan, as
well as summaries of the data we collected, will be available in June for residents to
read. But I can tell you there has never been a more exciting time for libraries as we
continue to provide, not only traditional services, but new services that support and
enhance all the many facets of our lives.
Mission
We enrich people’s lives
by providing opportunities
to explore, connect, and
be inspired.

Summer Reading
Challenge 2015
June 13–August 8
At Indian Prairie Public Library, we
understand that learning starts at home.
Children first learn from watching their
families interact with the world and then by
mirroring those behaviors and values.
We also know that reading together at
home and having books in the home are
both indicators of a child’s future success.
This summer, we want to help families to
succeed by encouraging everyone in the
family to read. We will also be providing
interactive opportunities for the whole
family to learn and play together all
summer long! For kids birth–grade 6.
Click on the Homemade Readers
logo and sign up. Remember to
write down your username and
password—you will need them!
The next time you are in the library,

Local Artist Donates Painting to IPPL
“It’s called The Prairie, and it’s my love
gift to everybody,” said Willowbrook
artist and author Jenn Weinshenker
of the oil painting she created and
donated to IPPL. The artwork is on
display in the seating area at the base
of the library’s stairway.
After a head-on car accident 20 years
ago, Jenn had to re-learn everything—
reading, writing, walking, and talking.
While learning to read again, Jenn
found help, encouragement, assistance, and support at her local public library.
“The library isn’t just a place where there are books. It’s a place where there are
people who really extend themselves and help you to learn to be a better person, to be
a part of your community. I wanted to gift this library with a painting that represented
my appreciation, so this is like a love gift to the whole community. It’s for everybody.”
The painting took a year to create. Patrons may recall Jenn painting on location on the
second floor of the library last summer.
