JAZZ QUARTET
A band of equals who all share the
same love of anything that swings, the
line-up is very much influenced by the
classic Hot Club of Paris band featuring
Stephane Grappelli and Django
Reinhardt. This quartet plays many of
the tunes from that era, but also adds
some more modern tunes with a gypsy
jazz makeover

A LOVE SUPREME:
GARY CROSBY QUARTET
FEAT. DENYS BAPTISTE
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of
the only live performance by the
legendary Coltrane of A Love Supreme
– this milestone is so monumental that
this work of art deserves to be
revisited by new artists. Joining
inspirational double bassist Gary
Crosby is Mercury/MOBO-winning
saxophonist Denys Baptiste,
internationally acknowledged as one of
the finest exponents of Coltrane’s
music. Invoking the summer of 1965,
the only occasion that he performed
this now timeless classic to a live
audience, Baptiste’s exemplary
performance promises to bring today’s
audiences the closest they will get to
feeling Coltrane’s spiritual
expressionism. Joining the Quartet is
the hypnotic Joe Armon-Jones on
piano and the graceful crispness of
Rod Youngs on drums.
A co-production with Freedom Festival
Unfurl's music expands across
continents, combining Indian ragas,
flamenco and Arabic music with
improvisation to create an original
sound ranging from the dramatic to the
sublime. Unfurl have been
enthusiastically received at numerous
Jazz festivals across the country,
including the Brecon, Gateshead,
Liverpool, London, Manchester,
Marlborough and Marsden Jazz
Festivals and we’re delighted to
welcome them to Hull.
