MARCH BAND PARENT MEETING / ELECTION RESULTS
Thanks to those of you who joined us last Wednesday for our band parent meeting, and
congratulations to our newly elected board members for 2015-2015:
President: Susan Taylor
Co-Vice Presidents: Kate Tierney & Debra Wasserman
Treasurer: Tracy Mallette
Assistant Treasurer: Gina Phinney
Secretary: Debbie Wiley
The Boosters page on the web site has been updated with contact information for the new
Board.
Thank you to departing president Stephanie Schulz and treasurer Rose Lynch for their years of
service on the board. They will not be on the Board next year, but they will still be volunteering
with the band!
In the next few weeks, we will be seeking volunteers for the many chair positions we have. If
you’d like to continue in your current position, it would help us out if you could contact one of
the board members and let us know your intentions.
Financial Update: The band still has about $30,000 in student-owed fees, including $14,000
in Spirit of Jupiter fees, $9,000 in Winter Guard/Percussion fees, and $8,000 for students who
are not in a co-curricular activity. Students who owe fees have been placed on the school’s
obligation list, which means those students will not be able to purchase a ticket to the band
banquet or participate in Project Graduation and other senior events. Please pay your fees as
soon as possible, as we are currently paying our bills with funds designated for the 2015-2016
school year.
If you have any questions regarding your financial standing with the band, please
contact Assistant Treasurer Gina Phinney at [email protected].

WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio for performances on April 16 and 17.
The JHS “JV” Winter Guard and bronze medalist JHS Winter Percussion will also perform.
Invite your friends and family to this very special event! See the Facebook event and attached
flyer and help us promote the Send-off!

senior year are eligible to purchase a band cord to wear at graduation.

WINTER GUARD UPDATE
Congratulations to the “A” Winter Guard, who came in 2nd place in Scholastic Elite A class at
the SFWGA Championship Prelims last Sunday at Seminole Ridge HS. They were edged out
by Park Vista HS by 0.61 points.
Check out the JHS Edline home page! The Winter Guard and their WGI Southeastern US
Championship is announced with a great banner photo.
You can WATCH the WGI World Championships LIVE from home! Webcast day passes will
be available to watch every performance – Percussion (April 9-11), Winds (April 11-12), and
Color Guard (April 16-18). See the attached flyer for more information or visit
https://wgiwebcast.com/index.cfm.
IF you are interested in purchasing a Winter Guard t-shirt, please contact Pam Crider at
[email protected]. She is considering doing another order of the t-shirts after the
group returns from Dayton, but she needs a minimum number to make the order affordable.
The guard’s next competition will be Saturday, April 11 at Barbara Goleman HS in Miami
Lakes for the Color Guard Championship Finals. Performance time has not yet been
announced.
If you’d like to cheer on the guard, all day tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and no
charge for children under 5. Barbara Goleman HS is located at 14100 NW 89th Avenue in
Miami Lakes, FL. For more information about this competition, visit
http://sfwga.org/contest_pages/2015/0411-Goleman.htm.
WINTER PERCUSSION UPDATE
Congratulations to JHS Winter Percussion, who earned the bronze medal at the SFWGA
Championship Finals at Seminole Ridge HS this past Saturday! They finished strong with a
season high score of 87.625, only 1.125 points short of 2nd place!
As stated above, the Winter Percussion will perform their show at the Winter Guard Send-off
on Saturday, April 4 in the JHS Gym at 8:30 PM.
There are no more Winter Percussion rehearsals. The online calendar has been updated to
reflect that change.
