The Book Sale is back! The Friends of the Library will hold a
Book Sale on Friday, April 10th from 10am to 6pm and on
Saturday, April 11th from 10am to 2pm. There are new and
used books, videos, CDs, books on tape, children’s books,
antique, and collectible books. As always, you will have the
opportunity to purchase an entire bag of books for only $10!

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE
The Friends will hold a Book Sale on Friday, April 10th from 10am-6pm and on
Saturday, April 11th from 10am-2pm. Purchase an entire bag of books for only $10!
LAKE TRAVIS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION
This month’s exhibit will showcase artwork created by students for the Scholastic
Regional Art and Writing competition. Join us on Wednesday, April 29th at 5pm for an
art reception to celebrate the talent of these students. All are welcome to attend!
STORY TIMES
• Amazing Mandarin Story Time - Thursday, April 2nd & 16th at 10:30am Learn Chinese with stories, games, and songs. For all ages!
• Hola-Hola! Story Time - Saturday, April 4th at 10:30am - Join Ann Benson
for story time in Español! All ages and languages welcome.
• Recycling Truck Visits Preschool Story Time - Monday, April 6th at
10:30am - Celebrate Earth Day at this special story time!
• Japanese Stories - Thursday, April 9th at 4pm - Japanese tales told in
English with puppets, toys, and a lot of imagination! For kindergarten and up.
• PJ Story Time & Stuffed Animal Sleepover - Tuesday, April 21st at 6:15pm Bring your favorite furry friend or doll for PJ Story Time (or anytime on April
21st), then tuck them in and say good night! Pick up your friend the next day
between 10am and 6pm to find out about their wild night at the library.
• Sign Language Story Time - Thursday, April 23rd at 10:30am - Join us for
kids’ tales told in American Sign Language (and spoken in English). Learn some
basic signs while enjoying classic songs and stories. All ages welcome!
• Dads and Donuts - Saturday, April 25th at 10:30am - Join us for a short
story time, craft, and snacks for dads and their kiddos. Moms are invited, too!
PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
• Little Yoga - Thursday, April 9th at 10:30am - This class is for ages three to
six. Experience exercise in a quiet, calming environment.
• Come & Go Crafts - Saturday, April 11th from 1:30pm to 3pm - Join us for
drop-in craft time at the library. We’ll make shaving cream planets for Earth Day!
• Teen Crafternoon - Sunday, April 12th at 1:30pm - Join us for craft time
using recycled books! Or you can bring your own project to work on.
• Teen Job Panel - Monday, April 13th at 6pm - Are you in the market for a
summer job? Hear experiences and advice from teens who have entered the job
force. Refreshments will be served!
• Taste Buds - Tuesday, April 14th from 4:30pm to 6pm - Ages ten and up are
invited to this hands-on cooking class. Learn to make some tasty dishes!
• Lego Club - Friday, April 17th at 4pm - Do you love Legos? Join us for a
free play session. Attendance is limited to 20 children, ages 5 and up.
• Bow Wow Reading - Saturday, April 18th from 10:30am to 1pm - In
partnership with the Austin Dog Alliance, we offer Bow Wow Reading for six to
twelve year olds. Please sign up in advance for an individual 15 minute session.
• Mother/Daughter Book Club - Sunday, April 19th at 2pm - Second through
fifth grade girls and their moms are invited to a discussion of Dying to Meet You
(43 Old Cemetery Road Series) by Kate Klise.
• ABCs of Cooking - Tuesday, April 21st at 4pm - This cooking class is for
five to ten year olds. Prepare healthy snacks and learn fun facts about food and
nutrition. Please see library website for attendance details. Bon appétit!
• Family Flicks - Tuesday, April 28th at 4pm - Join us for popcorn and family
fun! This month we’ll watch the Oscar-winning animated movie Big Hero 6.
• Chess Club - Mondays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm - All ages and skill levels are
invited to attend. Young chess players must be accompanied by an adult.
ADULT PROGRAMS
• Downton Abbey Tea Time - Wednesday, April 1st at 2pm - Gather to watch
the final episode in the fifth season. Enjoy tea and good company!
• Suddenly Single: Life Skills for Divorcees and Widows - Thursday, April
2nd at 6pm - Daryl Weinman will present essential information that can be
viewed as a survival kit for all suddenly singles.
• Getting into Harvard and Stanford - Monday, April 6th at 6pm - What does it
take to get into an elite college? Join Antonio Buehler to learn what colleges
focus on most and how to represent that on your college application.
• Friends Book Club - Tuesday, April 7th at 10am - The club will discuss
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese.
• Memoir Writing Group - Tuesday, April 7th at 3pm - Are you interested in
writing your memoir or preserving some of your memories for your children? Join
us to explore personal histories through a variety of writing activities.
• Texans in the American Civil War - Tuesday, April 7th at 7pm - Fred Hazen
will give a presentation on famous Texas units, leaders, and major battles in the
American Civil War. A question and answer session will follow the talk.
• How to Use Facetime on the iPad/iPhone - Tuesday, April 14th at 10:30am Learn how to make video calls with friends and family using your iPad and
iPhone. Join Nicole Linko of Nicole’s Computer Solutions to get started!
• Hi Body! Can We Talk? - Tuesday, April 14th at 2pm - Every symptom is a
message from your body. Sometimes we just need to listen! Join Dr. Jenny
Sechler to learn how to identify these symptoms and restore your health.
