Seeking Executive Director for Northwest New Mexico First Born Program LANL Foundation seeks a full-­‐time ED to manage the First Born home visiting program in McKinley and San Juan Counties. ED serves as liaison between program staff and the public, monitors financial administration and directs overall program planning and activities in both counties. Candidates must have excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as a team member; past success with a governing board; and experience with nonprofit accounting and budgeting procedures. MS/ MA degree in related field with minimum 3 years administrative experience in northwestern NM preferred. Salary $60,000-­‐70,000 with benefits package. JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Governing Board of the LANL Foundation, the Executive Director (ED) has
overall strategic and operational responsibility for the NNMFBP staff, programs, expansion,
and execution of its mission. The director supervises staff in developing a vision and
implementation methodology for the NNMFBP.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: •

Manage and direct the Northwest NM First Born Program with a yearly budget of around
$650,000.
Develop, maintain, and support a strong 7-9 member Governing Board, seeking and
building board involvement with strategic direction.

Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence and consistent quality of finance and
administration, fundraising, and communications.
Direct and administer the overall planning and activities of the NNMFBP in San Juan
and McKinley Counties.
Actively engage, energize, and communicate effectively with volunteers, board
members, partnering organizations, and funders.
Lead, mentor, develop and retain NNMFBP’s Program Managers to ensure effective
systems to track progress, and measure successes that can be effectively
communicated to the board, funders, and other stakeholders.
Build and maintain partnerships in the communities served, in an effort to share
information, resources, and training opportunities.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with government agencies, non-profits,
community and state leaders, and with funders.
Supervise and direct all activities associated with Program Manager meetings, and well
as meetings with the Governing Board.
Monitor the financial procedures and operations.
Manage comprehensive records for NNMFBP reporting including state and federal
reports, audits, standard operating procedures, legal agreements, and 501(c) 3
procedures.
Prepare reports for the NNMFBP and LANL Foundation Governing Board, and local,
state, and federal agencies, as needed.
Be a local and state, that publishes and communicates program results with an
emphasis on the successes of the local first born program as a model for statewide
replication.
Oversee the yearly program evaluation process chosen by the governing board.
Evaluate staff performance and implement progression or improvement plans as
appropriate.
Facilitate an atmosphere of open communication with the staff through regularly
scheduled staff meetings and frequent staff interactions, maintaining a climate which
attracts, retains, and motivates staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the LANL Foundation Governing Board
QUALIFICATIONS: The ED of NNMFBP will be thoroughly committed to the mission of the Northwest New
Mexico First Born Program. A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Health, Social
Work, Communications, Education, or related field and five (5) years increasingly
responsible experience in senior management, fundraising, or similar experience or
equivalent combination of education and experience is needed, as is a demonstrated
working knowledge of workings of a 50l ( c ) 3. Other qualifications include:

Commitment to quality, data-driven FB home visiting program.
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to mentor staff,
manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic
objectives and manage a $500,000-$1,500,000 budget for a largely rural two
county area.
Past success in working with a Governing Board, with the ability to cultivate
existing NWNMFBP board member relationships.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: •

Preferred: 5 years experience in non-profit management, Expected: 3 years experience
in non-profit management.
Proven experience fundraising and grant writing.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred (e.g., social services,
education, business, non-profit management, etc.)
Knowledge of northwestern New Mexico and non-profit programs in the region
preferred.
COMPENSATION: Salary range $60,000-70,000. Benefits include: health care, dental, vision, disability, life
