Body Wisdom: Using Your Body's Signals to Increase Wellbeing at Work Seminar with psychotherapist Linda Hoeben (Belgium) Four evening sessions: May 18, 21 & June 11, 18 CONTEXT As you take part in the ‘Urban Jungle’ you are probably used to doing things quickly. You feel good when you’ve finished a job which meets the highest standards of your customers, your management board, or your own assessment. You often expect a lot from yourself and therefore from your body, - you might ignore some stress complaints in your body, such as headaches, pressure around your heart area, lower back pains, digestive problems, concentration problems, mood swings, problems in regulating your body temperature, etc. You forget that the rhythm in our society/in the Urban Jungle now is much faster than it was some decades ago. Your body might not been genetically designed, or at least it didn’t have the time, to adapt to this fast pace and these high expectations. Luckily, your body is wise! It has an inner wisdom and it knows if the price you are paying to survive in the Urban Jungle is too high. You body knows when it needs rest, stillness; when it needs healthy food, when it needs to be close to another body. Your body knows the difference between healthy stress that stimulates you, and on the other hand the unhealthy stress that might be straining your health. PROGRAMME This seminar is about recognizing your patterns in how you live your life. It will offer you insights and tools for engaging and understanding your body for psychological well-being. During the seminar, you will learn to use the signals from your body in making decisions about your life. AGENDA: SESSION I Healthy and Unhealthy stress in your body. Goal: recognizing current stress-related patterns and finding new ways. SESSION II Healthy and Unhealthy working styles. Stress related to your specific ways of approaching your work. Goal: Reflecting on current working style and (if necessary) designing a healthier working style. SESSION III Real feelings and Parasite feelings: helpful and not so helpful ways of acknowledging and (not) showing feelings. Goals: Acknowledging current patterns in dealing with feelings. Are they helpful and solution focused? Does anything need to change? SESSION IV What do you really want in your life? What does your heart beat for? Goals: Tips and Tricks, Tools to achieve this.
