Mathletics - learning in 4F 2015

Dear 4F Parents, Here are a few trouble-‐shooting pages in case your child runs into difficulty using any of the computer based sites we are looking at in term 2. We will be concentrating on 4 sites this term, SpellingCity, Edmodo, mathletics and Weebly. Hopefully all students have their logins and passwords for each of the sites. All of these sites are available on both Computer and Ipad (However some flash style videos are not supported by Ipads.) I have copies of logins and passwords so please ask your child to ask me if they have lost theirs. Please do NOT make another account on Edmodo if you lose yours – it creates loads of problems! Please understand that the use of computers/Ipads for homework is NOT compulsory. If you do not have access to these devices at home, that is fine – other arrangements for homework will be made to include your child. Regards, Mrs Flaherty How to log in to spelling city:
1) Go to this website: https://www.spellingcity.com 2) You will come to this page. Use your student 3) Once you have logged in, it will bring you to username and password to log in: this page. At the top of the page you will find your list of spelling activities for the week. Click on these and complete them as you would your normal homework. There are spelling and writing activities for you to complete. I have given people different activities according to their spelling level and interest so you may not have the same activities as your friends! Mathletics
Go to this website: www.mathletics.com
1) Log in with your username and password 2) You will see a list of tasks in the middle of the screen you will need to complete. 3) Students will be set up to 10 activities per week, these can be done in class and for homework. Each activity takes no more than 10 minutes and can be done on ipads. 4) The question mark is the help function. If students are stuck, click on this and it will take your through, step by step, what is needed to complete the question. The activities in Mathletics have been set by me and are set to the student’s ability. Sometimes I will make them a little harder, just for that extra push! EDMODO How To…
Edmodo seems to be a bit confusing so here are a few steps and tips. ALL STUDENTS have been logged onto Edmodo, either they have done this or I have done this for them. There was NO NEED to enter an email address. 1) log into http://www.edmodo.com and you will see this page: 2)
Make sure you click on the student box, or it will default to teacher. 3)
The group code changes every two weeks. If you have been logged out of Edmodo and can’t get back in, please email me and I will send the group code for the week. 4)
First name and last name need to be entered. 5)
Your username should be your full name with capitals and ends in 4F: eg JohnSmith4F 6)
There is NO NEED to enter an email address. 7)
Make your password something that you will EASILY remember such as your favourite sport. Write it down somewhere! 8)
If you wish to join as a parent, again, this time click on the parent tab and enter in your details. You can add your own email if you wish. Please note: This is NOT a social media site. The students are monitored where possible and have been advised of the appropriate ways to use this site. If students are not using this appropriately, they will be taken off the site. Weebly how to…
Weebly is the main tool of communication I use for our class. I do not use Dojo’s. 1) To access our weebly, you will need to type ‘learningwithmrsf.weebly.com’ directly into your browser. There is no need to type the www. Before hand. 2) If you type it into google, you will NOT find it because I have made it for our class only – it is not a public site. 3) This is our weebly homepage. As a parent, please check the weekly update tab on the top of the page. I update this with the happenings in the class. 4) All homework can be accessed from here, including the topic talks and timetable for these. 5) Our science unit and related Internet links are also available here. Feel free to have a look at these and see what we are learning in class. 6) If you click on ‘more’ it will take you to other links where you can email me or see things that have been archived.
