Teacher Spotlight
Carmina Orozco has selected Mrs. Rebecca Oaxaca
“When I think of Mrs. Rebecca Oaxaca I think of a lady with a BIG HEART!!!
She is always helping with the needs of all students and parents. You can find her counseling our
students, tutoring after school, or assisting with many extra-curricular activities after school. One
of our very own students, Laura Diosado is a good example of how widespread Ms. Oaxaca’s heart
extends. Laura’s struggle with Cystic Fibrosis was long and enduring. Mr. and Mrs. Oaxaca helped
with raising funds for medical expenses and many other costs involved with a long term illness.
They have been a huge presence and prayer support for Laura and her family.
On a personal note, Mr. and Mrs. Oaxaca have been a huge blessing to me and my family. Recently,
my son was married and Mrs. Oaxaca decorated for the ceremony so beautifully and Mr. Oaxaca
served as the pastor while my son and his fiancé exchanged wedding vows. For this reason and
many others Mrs. Oaxaca will always be very special to me and my family.
.
Rebecca Oaxaca is a wonderful and beautiful person with a giving and supporting heart.
Thank you!!!”

One: World Updates
With the rollout of the new MacBook program, MISD has allocated a new staff position dedicated to
helping students with MacBook issues. Allison Hall is the resident MBHS Apple Technician located
in room A130 (across the main hall from the H-hall stairs).
She will be on Campus daily from 7 until 2:45.
Students can drop off their MacBooks before school from 7:10 until 7:25 and during all lunch
periods.
Students willnot be able to see her during class time.
When a student takes his/her MacBook down to A130, they will fill out a help ticket and in essence
receive a “receipt”. In some cases the student will receive a “loner” to use while their MacBook is
being repaired.
If Allison Hall is ever out, Jenny Keiser (the MBHS Campus Technician) will be the Back-Up.
(Students will still take the MacBooks to A-130)
Students should not take their MacBooks to the Library.
Once the MacBook has been repaired, Allison Hall will contact the library in order to determine the
student location. A pass will be sent to the student informing them to stop by During lunch or after
school. Students, should not be send down during class.
All records of damages, repairs, etc. will maintained by Allison Hall in A-130.
If students have general “How-to” questions dealing with their MacBooks, Google Accounts, or
Canvas accounts, they should check out the campus website dedicated to this: http://bit.ly/

Notes from the Nurse
Immunizations:
Seniors- it that time of year when you are thinking more about college in the fall and getting
everything prepared. Part of your preparations are making sure your college has your current
vaccination record and that you meet the college’s requirements. Please note that many colleges
require students to have a meningitis vaccine within the last 5 years. Most of you senior had your
last meningitis vaccine more than the recommended 5 years ago. Please note that you may need an
additional vaccine for college. We will be happy to print your vaccination record for you- just call,
email or stop by the clinic for your copy of your vaccination record.
Also, if you get a vaccine while you are a student here at Boyd, please bring a copy of the proof of
the immunization so we can update your vaccination record. This way when you call and ask us for
a complete immunization record years from now, we will have all of the information together.
Please be aware that there has been much news in the media about the recent measles outbreak.
I have attached some frequently asked questions about measles for you to review along with the
information that is usually given to families when the vaccine is given. You may already know this
information, but it never hurts to have a refresher!
If you do not have insurance or are under insured and your student needs a vaccination, low cost or
free immunizations are provided by:
Collin County Health Care
825 North McDonald Street
Monday-Friday
7:30am-11:00am and 1:00pm-4:00pm

The broncos put up an excellent display against Plano East, outplaying and outworking the black
panthers. Boyd dominated on every stat of the game, which resulted in a comprehensive team
victory. Patrick Neuman started the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by a beautifully crafted
goal by Cody Spitzer in the 54th minute from a Trey Marchino assist. Brian Tafireyi (assisted by
Hayden Brown) finished the game off with a goal in the 77th minute.
Shutout was made possible by Goal Keepers Evan Davies and Tim Boswell; Defenders: Trey
Marchino, Hayden Brown, Haven Trahan, Nick Lassiter, Cole Verhoev and Andrew Smith.
Thanks for all your support, and please congratulate the boys on a job well done.

Every year in the spring, the Boyd chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America take tab tops down to the Dallas Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House uses the tab tops to turn in for cash to use to help off set the expenses of the house for the families that have sick children at Children’s Medical Hospital. Please help us by collecting your tab tops and drop them off at the high school. We’ve been doing this for 6 years now. Let’s see if we can beat last year’s delivery of 50 gallons!
