Nosotros commands Let’s…….. Vamos a…infinitive • Using intonation and context vamos a infintive can be translated as shall we?…or let’s…a way to give a group a command that includes yourself. • ¿Vamos a salir a las ocho? Shall we leave at 8:00? • ¡Vamos a llamarlo! Let’s call him! Nosotros commands with the subjunctive • Using the nosotros subjunctive form clearly states the command. • Hablemos con la maestra. Let’s talk to the teacher. • ¡Digamos la verdad! Let’s tell the truth! “IR” • The verb “ir” is the only verb with an irregularity; • In the affirmative the command is simply vamos the present indicative. • In the negative it is no vayamos as it should be. Adding objects to affirmative commands • Objects are always attached to affirmative commands…. • Busquemos a la maestra. • Busquémosla. Let’s look for her. • When you attach a command the main syllable of the verb is accented (hint: count back three syllables..that vowel will take the accent.) Objects with negative commands • • • • Objects always go before negative commands. Busquemos a la maestra. No la busquemos. Let’s not look for her. In the negative there is no need for an accent. Nosotros commands of reflexive verbs • When adding nos to the nosotros command of a reflexive verb: • The final -s- is dropped • Irse: vamos… (accent three syllables back) ...vámonos …Let’s get going. • Sentarse: sentemos…sentémonos….Let’s sit down.
