AudioReQuest, iTunes, iPod and you
The great success of the Apple iPod has led to a lot of questions from you, our dealers,
installers and end users regarding how AudioReQuest can be integrated with your iPod.
You will be pleased to know that AudioReQuest integrates easily with the iTunes software and
with your iPod. The entire collection of Music from your AudioReQuest is available to be viewed
and played on iTunes on either PC or Mac operating systems. This is because the
AudioReQuest is available on the network through Samba (also known as Windows
Networking).
As for your iPod, the AudioReQuest has in fact integrated with the iPod ever since its
introduction. It also integrates with many other portable and car players, such as the Rio Karma
and the Kenwood Music Keg.
AudioReQuest’s open architecture allows you to quickly and easily drag and drop entire
directories of music, by artist or by album, to the iPod using iTunes.
This Guide is a brief overview of what you will need to do to make iTunes and iPod compliment
your AudioReQuest. For more detailed information on the steps below please download the
help guides from www.request.com.

How to Connect to an AudioReQuest Via SAMBA on a
Macintosh running OSX 10.3
1. Go to the finder (desktop).
2. Click on “GO”.
3. Choose “CONNECT TO SERVER”.
4. In the address field of the “Connect to Server” dialog, type the URL using this syntax,
smb:// then your IP address, then click connect.
5. Choose the drive you want to map from (you will be asked to name the mapped drive). Now
that you have mapped the drive, it will appear on the desktop. To make it appear on the
desktop every time you reboot, make an Alias by holding the “CTRL” key and click on the
icon. Select “Make Alias.” It will now show up every time you reboot.
6. When you double click on it, there will be folders in that drive that have hexadecimal names
for example 000000000000, 81E7D2E83013. These are drive IDs. The one that is made up
of all the zeros is the music that was pre-loaded on the system. The folders with letters and
numbers are your music folders (the names of these folders are different on every ARQ Pro
and ZONE). Double click on one of the music folders. There you will find your artist
hierarchy for that drive with albums as sub-folders.
7. You can now drag and drop songs or entire folders of music from your AudioReQuest to
your Mac.

a PC.
4. Plug your iPod in and move the music you want from your AudioReQuest by drag and
dropping songs onto your iPod in iTunes.
