Course Description:
Learn the fundamentals of cake decorating from “Milwaukee’s Cake Boss.” Topics will include basic
skills and tips that Judi has learned in over 30 years of cake decorating. This isn’t your basic Wilton
course - classes are ALL INCLUSIVE– so you don’t have to worry about purchasing or bringing
supplies!
Course Objectives:
1. Properly identify and learn to utilize equipment needed to decorate cakes.
2. Learn how to tort and fill a cake.
3. Prepare icing (i.e. fill icing bag, add color) and ice cake.
4. Learn different techniques to make various borders and garland decorations.
5. Learn to make icing flowers and different writing techniques.
Lesson Plan:
Session 1: Introduction to Cake Decorating
Learn how to tort, fill, and ice cakes. This session includes a lecture on
different myths and tips on cake decorating that Judi has learned over the years.
Session 2: Rainbow Cake
Learn how to fill icing bags, handle icing bags, use
of color, and the importance of pressure control.
Session 3: Fancy Borders
Learn the many different borders like: shell, reverse shell,
dot, rosette, star, and many more!
Session 4: Buttercream Flowers & Writing
Learn how to make beautiful buttercream flowers along with the different
techniques used to write neatly on a cake using buttercream!
