greatness? Noralta Lodge has an exciting opportunity for an experienced
Sous Chef with a strong background in the Hospitality business.
The primary duty of the Sous Chef is to lead the Company’s food service
excellence and serving in the role of Chef in their absence. The Sous Chef will
perform the assigned duties within the kitchen and assist the Chef in the daily
management of the kitchen.
Performance Responsibilities















Work closely with the Chef to ensure the lines of communications are open at
all times;
Assist the Chef in planning and managing food services at the lodge level and
ensure awareness of corporate direction, mission aims and activities;
Assist the Chef in ordering, receiving and handling of food products;
Ensure quality through regular inspections of all food handling and
preparation and oversight and procedures and best practices;
Make recommendations to the Chef on food service strategies for the lodge,
including but not limited to: resource allocation, team members, uniforms,
standards and best practices;
Provide leadership, direction, and support to the kitchen team members;
Set timelines and standards and communicate goals, expectations and
objectives to kitchen team members;
Establish strong working relationships with customers and team
members;
Develop and retain the appropriate mix of team members; including
keeping team engagement positive, retaining a competent team, and
ensuring a safe and supportive work environment;
Help the team resolve problems quickly and efficiently;
Maintain confidentiality of all company policies and procedures;
Act as an ambassador for Noralta Lodge in all dealings with the public
and team members;
Maintain great internal and external communications;
To be familiar with and carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance
with Health & Safety Policies approved by Noralta Lodge along with
Occupational Health & Safety regulations; and
Such other duties that may be required that may fall within the parameters of
the primary responsibility of the position.
Personal Attributes and Qualifications:











Post-secondary education with diploma or certificate acceptable to Noralta
Lodge;
Interprovincial Journeyman Red Seal certificate;
Food Safety training required;
Minimum five (5) years of experience including two (2) years of managerial
experience;
Sensitivity and the ability to keep information in strict confidence;
Ability to work cooperatively as a member of the team through personal
behavior, work contribution and sharing of expertise and knowledge;
Ability to understand a variety of viewpoints;
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi task;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point);
Excellent oral and written communications skills coupled with the
ability to interface and establish close working relationship with all
levels of management; and
Possesses strong organization and planning skills, ability to
rationally analyze information and make effective decisions,
follow-through on commitments, be proactive and calm under
pressure of pending deadlines.
