The Northampton Hope Centre is a local charity which has been working with the homeless and disadvantaged in Northampton for 40 years. Now based at Oasis House, near Northampton town centre, we are well known throughout the local area for our work with our clients, supporting them in achieving their goals. Whilst we have grown in many ways over the past 40 years, our basic aims remain true: to combat poverty, disability, social deprivation and its causes through day to day support; to provide longer term training and development opportunities which enable clients to progress and hopefully re-integrate into mainstream society. Our clients can access basic but essential services, such as hot meals, showers and recycled clothes, however our increasing focus is on providing a programme of meaningful training & development activities within a structured client engagement programme to encourage them to identify their goals and work to achieve them, improve their selfesteem and develop new skills. We aim to give everyone a hand up, not just a hand-out. Every day we see a diverse range of people aged from 18 – 80+, which include o o o o o o Homeless Previously homeless, often vulnerably housed (e.g. hostels) & struggling to re-integrate into society Long term unemployed/incapacitated Adults with drug and/or alcohol misuse challenges & those with mental health & depression related issues Low income parents Single elderly people experiencing social exclusion and poverty By competing in the Northampton Running Festival you can help support the work of Northampton Hope Centre.
