FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 9, 2014 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT PRESENTS BOB NEWHART SATURDAY • NOVEMBER 15 Richmond, BC – Bob Newhart’s career has spanned two successful television shows and fourteen feature films. He has sold millions of albums worldwide and his fans still flock to his live performances to hear such Newhart standards as “The Driving Instructor”, “Sir Walter Raleigh” and “The Submarine Commander”. These timeless classics are enjoyed by young and old alike at sold-out venues across North America. Bob’s debut album, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart was released in 1960 and became the first comedy album to go to #1 on the charts. He was an immediate sell-out in nightclubs all over the country. Seven more albums followed … each extremely successful multi-platinum projects. In fact, Bob’s cumulative recording career earned him three Grammy Awards. As proof of this, his record for holding the #1 and #2 Billboard chart positions was not broken until recently. Bob has enjoyed tremendous success in television and films as well. His first television show, The Bob Newhart Show (1961-1962) was a comedy-variety show which ran on NBC. He then went on to star in two hit sitcoms, The Bob Newhart Show (1972-1978) and Newhart (1982–1990) … both of which ran on CBS. His feature film credits include Hell Is for Heroes, Cold Turkey, First Family, In and Out and Elf. In 2005, Bob was honoured with the distinction of being heralded as an American Master by the PBS documentary of the same name. The following year, his book, I Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This was released and became a New York Times bestseller. Last year Bob won his first Emmy Award which he earned in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of “Professor Proton” on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory. As much success as Bob has enjoyed, he has never strayed far from his first love of performing stand-up and will be bringing his hilarious show to the River Rock Casino Resort on November 15, 2014.
