FOUR-WEEK CERTIFICATE COURSE FOR LIFE GAURDS IN POOL SWIMMING
Sports Authority of India through its Academic wing NS,NIS Patiala will be conducting four weeks
Certificate Course for Lifeguards in pool swimming from 1st May to 28th May 2015 for men and women
at SAI NS NIS, Patiala fulfilling the following criteria:
Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualifications
10+2 pass (preference will be given to graduates)
Sports Achievements:
(a) Minimum position holder in district championship or state/university level participation
(preference will be given to International players, Physical Education Teachers)
(b) Selection will also include the timing recorded in swimming during trials for selection of the
course.
Age:
(i)
20-40 years
(ii)
Upper age limit relax able up to 5 years for candidates belonging to schedule caste/
schedule tribe/ candidates belonging to North-East.
Selection of candidates for Admission:
The selection of the candidates for admission will be based on Academic qualification, swimming timing
during selection trials and level of sports participation and with the recommendation of the Coach In
charge concerned.
Attendance:
A student requires 95% attendance; failing which he/she will not be allowed to appear in the
examination.
Maximum intake per course will be 25 participants.
The following holidays will be observed:
Every Sunday, Second Saturday and Central Government Gazetted holidays.
Note:
(i)
Final admission to the course will be subject to the medical fitness/ swimming tests
of
the candidate. Decision of the selection committee will be final and binding. Sports
Authority of India reserves the right to cancel this programme, change the venue and also
increase the duration of a course due to Administrative/Academic reasons etc.
(ii) This certificate to be renewed after every three years.
(iii) Not more than 5 participants each of dependents of NIS and employed personnel in govt.

Lodging charges @ Rs. 50/- per head per day ( For 32 days)
Boarding charges Rs.175/- per head per day (for 32 days)
Charges for Medical assistance for minor ailments
Security Deposit ( Refundable)
Rs. 2,000/Rs. 300/Rs. 500/Rs. 1,600/Rs. 5,600/Rs. 300/Rs. 1,000/Rs.11,300/-
Note:
1. The candidate desirous for admission should apply on the prescribed form along with the Demand
draft of Rs. 500/- as application fee (Non-refundable) drawn on State bank of Patiala or State
Bank of India, payable at Patiala, in favour of Executive Director, Academics, SAI NS NIS,
Patiala.
