Netball Northern Territory - DEVELOP A DIAMOND ACADEMY (DADA)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Background
The DADA program is a Netball Australia developed program and forms part of the Netball
Northern Territory players’ pathway. The program is specifically aimed at players ranging
between 13 and 16 years old. The program is designed to provide the highest quality
training experience and is appropriate to the athletes’ physical, cognitive and social
development levels.
Participation Criteria
 The athlete needs to be a current registered member of Netball NT
 The athlete needs to be currently competing in Member Association (MA)
competitions
 Athletes selected into the NT School Sport Netball Team will be considered
 The athlete needs to satisfy the criteria as stipulated in the Targeted Athletes and
Selection Process sections
Targeted Athletes
 The targeted athletes must be deemed capable of representing future Netball NT
underage teams by the Netball NT Selection Committee and the DADA coaching staff
 The athlete must display the potential to achieve the skills described in the core
curriculum
 The athlete must display a satisfactory level of the following physical characteristics
o Movement & Footwork skills, Agility, Reactive skills, Elevation, Hand-eye
Coordination
 The athlete must display a satisfactory level of committed to the program:
o Attend all sessions, arrive on time
o Complete any home sessions that are set
o Train as part of the aquad
o Train during every session with 100% effort.
o Be respectful of all staff

Inclusion Criteria
 To be eligible for the program the athlete must be fit and medically cleared to
participate in the program
 The athlete must be available for selection into their respective MO representative
team ie 17 & Under NT Team 2016
 The selected athlete must display suitable levels of self motivation, discipline and
commitment
Athlete Selection Process
 The Netball NT selection committee will identify athletes at Selections and NT Link
 Athletes may be identified from the NT School Sport Netball Team
 The inclusion of athletes into the DADA program is at the discretion of the Netball NT
selection committee
Program Curriculum
 Athletes will be expected to attend all trainings as well as complete all wellbeing and
education home study
 Athlete will also be required to pass the online umpires theory exam
Competition
 Match play within training sessions
 Inter-squad
 Training partners to state teams

 Darwin Selections
Saturday 9th May 2015 9am – 3pm @ Marrara Indoor Stadium
 Alice Springs Selections
Sunday 24th May @ St Phillips
 Katherine Selections – TBA
Training Schedules and Commitments
 The Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine Programs will be commencing after
selections through to the end of November 2015
 Trainings will be once per week until September
 Athletes will have a break in September due to local netball finals and NT Link and
will resume training in October
 From October through to the end of November athletes will be expected to train
twice per week
 Time: TBC
 Venue: TBC
 Darwin: Sessions will be
o Fridays 4-5.30pm @ MIS until September and
o Monday and Fridays 4-5.30pm on October and November @ MIS
