First Communion
This year’s Level 2 class is made up of five wonder
individuals. I have had a great time helping them
prepare for the Sacraments of their First Reconciliation
and their First Holy Communion. They have worked
very hard, learned a lot and are ready for this Blessed
event. I know they are both nervous and excited so I
would like to take this time to ask all of you to pray for
our Level 2 class and their families and that they
continue to grow in their Spiritual life. I have
thoroughly enjoy being a part of their growing in
Christ.

Mother’s Day
As today is also Mother’s Day let us not forget to pay
tribute to our own mother’s and those who have been
like a mother to us.
Mother’s Day Prayer
'Loving God,
We thank you for the love of the mothers you have
given us, whose love is so precious that it can never
be measured, whose patience seems to have no
end.
May we see your loving hand behind them and
guiding them. We pray for those mothers who fear
they will run out of love or time, or patience.
We ask you to bless them with your own special
love. Let the example of their faith and love shine
forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honor them always with a spirit of profound
respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.’

Thank You
To Julie Mills the Level 2 Religious Education teacher
who spent this year preparing our First Communion
students for this very important sacrament. Your
commitment to the students and program is very
much appreciated. Thank you to the students for
coming and participating in class and thank you
parents for bringing them each week.
Yard Sale
Our parish yard sale is fast approaching! To make it
the huge success it can be, we need your "treasures".
Please bring in items for the sale next weekend, May
16/17, after the Saturday 4 o'clock Mass or after the
10 o'clock Mass on Sunday. We will also be collecting
items in the hall from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ... May 19 to
May 22. We would appreciate getting the items in
as early as possible during that week to allow for
sorting, pricing and displaying.
As well as household items, we will have a “Bread
Basket" table. We are asking that those of you who
make bread, rolls, scones, biscuits or jams bring
them in on Friday afternoon between 1 and 3 p.m. or
Saturday morning by 8 a.m. We will not be having
cookies and sweets for sale.
As with last year, Marg Power will have her plants
for sale. If there are other gardeners who are
thinning their perennial plants and would like to
contribute them for the sale, please drop them off in
the Hall on Friday afternoon no later than 3 o'clock.

Reflections, Witness
Personal Profile of Julie Mills
My name is Julie Mills, I grew up in Bridgewater with
four siblings (I being number 4 in the line of 5) and
two wonderful parents. My dad was a Fisherman by
trade so he was away from home a lot. Mom made our
home life one of love and respect. Even though my
Dad wasn’t always there, Mom always made sure we
didn’t forget about him. She was often heard reciting,
“Wait until your father gets home!” Joking aside, I
have no complaints about the home I grew up in.
I met and fell in love with my husband Peter in the
Spring of 1989. After dating for several years, we
were married at St. Joseph’s in Bridgewater in June
1996. We had been living in Fredericton, NB during
the first part of our marriage but couldn’t wait to get
back to Nova Scotia to start our family. We now live in
Shad Bay and have two fantastic children, Noah 13
and Chloe 10.
My employment background is mostly administrative
with a diploma in Accounting. I have been employed
with the same company for 17 years and have worked
my way up through the ranks from Administration, to
my current position of Outside Sales. Who knew I
could sell electrical components and love it? It has
been my faith in God that has helped me spread my
wings and to take the chance of trying on this new
role of sales, seven years ago.
Currently I am teaching Level 2, the First
Communion class. This is my second year teaching
this level and it is God’s will that has brought me
here. I am so proud of the children making this very
important sacrament and to know that I am a part
of their journey warms my heart beyond words. I
have grown so much as a Catholic in these past two
years and I am truly blessed to be a part of such a
wonderful parish and community.
To quote one of my favorite singers:
“You’ll never find peace of mind unless you listen to
your heart.”
Blessings,
Julie
It is because of my children that I became more
involved in our parish. I needed to grow more in my
faith and I thought teaching the young would help
me. Well, it sure has! I have gotten away from my
comfort zone and have been teaching religious
education for two years now. I also took part in the
Alpha program and I am getting to know so many
wonderful people in our parish because of it.
