DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF Official Science Fair FORMS:
5:00 p.m., March 6th!
Regional Science Fair Winner’s Instruction Sheet
Congratulations on being selected to participate in this year’s Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair! Only a
few students from each of the nine regional competitions in Oklahoma qualify. This places you in a select group of students
indeed and you should be very proud of this accomplishment! The date of the 2015 Oklahoma State Science & Engineering
Fair (OSSEF) is Thursday, and Friday, March 26th and 27th.
You must now do two things immediately: 1) Register online at the OSSEF website immediately and 2) follow
the instructions in this Participant’s Packet. The packet has several forms that you must submit to enter the OSSEF. Be
certain all information used to register online and to fill out the forms is accurate and complete. It is very important to
indicate the category in which your project is to be entered and whether your project is to be placed on a table or on the
floor. Careful attention to these details now will save you time, effort, and peace of mind later. All projects require the
2015 OSSEF forms and current year’s International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) certification forms. ISEF forms
required for all projects include: Checklist for Adult Sponsor (1), Student Checklist (1A), Research Plan, Approval Form
(1B), and Abstract Form. Note that for teams, each team member must submit an Approval Form (1B) but team members
must jointly submit the other required ISEF forms. If you are doing a continuation project, you also must submit prior
year’s ISEF forms. Additional ISEF forms may be required depending on the nature of your project. All forms relevant to
your project must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. March 6th. Please mail copies of your SIGNED original
certification forms and bring your originals with you when you come to register and compete at the state fair
competition. Failure to submit the necessary forms may result in disqualification.
Please carefully review the rules in the OSSEF Safety & Display (http://ossef.ecok.edu), and the 2015 ISEF Rules for
Precollege Science Research: Guidelines for Science and Engineering Fairs http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/document)
to make certain you are following all of the rules listed. They will be enforced. If you are competing as part of a team
project, all team members must register and pay registration fees.
If you prefer to pay your $20 registration fee in advance, please do not send cash. You may make a check out to
the "Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair." One last item: please give your science teacher the page that has the
heading "Sponsor’s Letter." Fine-tune your project and presentation between now and the competition and good luck. See
you at the fair!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rahmona A. Thompson, Director

Sponsor’s Letter
Congratulations! Your student has been selected to enter the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair
(OSSEF). This means that your hard work and efforts have come to fruition. Your student should have received a copy of
the Participants Packet that contains instructions necessary to enter the competition. Please help your student: 1)
complete registration online at the OSSEF website; 2) complete all forms in this packet; and 3) mail
SIGNED copies all appropriate ISEF forms. Please check the accuracy of the requested information. Also carefully
review the OSSEF rules (http://ossef.ecok.edu), the 2015 ISEF 2015 Rules for Pre-College Research
(http://www.societyforscience.org) to make certain you are following all of the rules listed. All OSSEF and ISEF
certification forms must be received by 5:00 PM March 6. Do not fax any forms! Online registration must
be completed by 3 days after advancement notification. Failure to meet this deadline means you have to
contact Rahmona Thompson!
To participate in the competition we require, without exception, the exhibitor to be present during judging on
Friday. If this presents a problem for your student, please notify your regional director immediately so that he/she will be
able to select an alternate participant to send to OSSEF. Please help your student meet this deadline. I will contact you
after our Scientific Review Committee has reviewed your students’ projects. Please include the names of each participant
and the Division (I for 10-12 and II for 7-9) in which they are competing and your school.
Please realize that the OSSEF assigns you the task of being responsible for the welfare of your
participant at all times. If you cannot be present at the State Science Fair, you must make the necessary
arrangements for proper supervision by an adult. You should check with your school administrator for any
other requirements that may apply to your situation.
In the Participant’s Packet is a Lodging and Restaurant Guide. Agendas and maps that may help you in planning for
your stay are available at the OSSEF website. Be certain not to delay in making room reservations because they are always
in short supply. The registration fee for EACH science fair participant is $20. Dinner will be available at the Taff
Cafeteria on campus for an additional cost.
If an emergency arises you may contact me using the information given below or by calling the East Central
University campus operator (580-332-8000). If you have specific problems related to exhibiting a project at OSSEF, be
certain to contact me as soon as possible. My thanks for all the effort you have expended on behalf of your student and I
look forward to seeing you in March.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rahmona A. Thompson, Director
