Conduct of the Game
30. The Laws governing the
Game of cricket will operate
Every Club should have one!
Law 3.8 (a)
“It is solely for the umpires together to decide
whether either conditions of ground, weather
or light or exceptional circumstances mean that
it would be dangerous or unreasonable for play
to take place”
Law 3.9 (c) - Suspension of play
…umpires to monitor the conditions.
They shall make inspections as often as
appropriate, unaccompanied by any players
or officials.

Reduction of overs in anticipation of bad weather
Delayed start or interruption in the first innings
• Lose one over per side for each FULL 7 minutes lost
• Minimum of 25 overs per side
• Can lose 2 hours 20 minutes before abandonment
• (Or 2 hours 40 minutes if tea taken during rain break)
• Play must start by 4:10 pm (1610)
Interruptions during the second innings
• Reduction in overs and revision of target score
• In ALL games season 2015
• Overs reduced by one for every 31/2 minutes lost
• Adjusted run target calculated by umpire BEFORE
play resumes
• If the revised target has already been scored the
game is over and the batting side have won
New guidance for this season
If the reduction in overs means the side batting
second will not have time to face 25 overs:
• The game will continue with a target score set
as if 25 overs were available
• If the target score is achieved the batting side will
be deemed to have won the game
• If the batting side is dismissed within the allotted
overs the bowling side will be deemed to have won
the game

• If no result is achieved within the overs available
• the outcome is a wet weather no result
• 5 points plus bonus points are awarded
Where the interruption occurs during the 1st
innings and extends into the 2nd innings:
• Lose 1 over each per 7 minutes until 1st innings
runs out of overs
• Lose 1 over each 31/2 minutes from the second
innings
• (Tea taken during the interruption stops the clock)
• Only completed overs count in any calculation but
total score stands
