Competition Rules
Age Division
Players must be Under 18 years of age (that is, aged 17 years or under on 31 December 2014).
Cricket Rules
The normal rules of cricket will apply to the Impact Cricket Challenge except in the following circumstances:
• 12 players per side, 11 players to bat and the 12th man may bowl and field. This is a playing condition
used for the Impact Cricket Challenge to allow maximum participation of players from each school/club in
each game over the week of cricket. The 12th man should be named prior to the start of play.
• Fielders may be interchanged at any time between overs as long as the progress of the match is
maintained.
• Any player fielding within 10 metres of the batsman (excepting slips area to wicketkeeper) shall wear a
protector and protective headgear with full facial guard
No-Ball
• (a) the penalty for a ‘no ball’ shall be one run, plus any runs scored from the delivery
• (b) furthermore, the umpire at the bowler’s end shall call and signal ‘no ball’ if the ball, which the
umpire considers to have been delivered,
 (i) bounced more than twice, or
 (ii) rolls along the ground, or
 (iii) comes to rest before it reaches the striker or if not otherwise played by the striker.
Short-pitched Deliveries
• A short-pitched delivery is delivered as a ball that passes or would have passed, after having bounced on
the pitch, over the shoulder height of the batsman standing upright at the crease.
• A bowler shall be limited to one short-pitched delivery per over. Further short-pitched deliveries shall be
called ‘no ball’.
Full-pitched Deliveries
• A full-pitched delivery is defined as a ball that passes or would have passed, on the full, above the waist
height of a batsman standing upright at the crease. Such a delivery shall be called ‘no ball’.
Free hit
• The delivery following a No Ball (FRONT FOOT ONLY) shall be a ‘free hit’ for whichever batsman is facing
it. If the delivery for the free hit is not a legitimate delivery (any kind of No Ball or a Wide ball), then the
next delivery will become a free hit for whichever batsman is facing it.
• For any free hit, the striker can only be dismissed under the circumstances that apply for a No Ball even if
the delivery for the free hit is called a Wide. Changes to fielding positions are only permitted if a different
batsman is on strike for the free hit delivery.
Wides
• Any off side or leg side delivery that in the opinion of the umpire does not give the batsman a
reasonable opportunity to score shall be called a Wide.
• The penalty for a wide shall be one run, plus any runs scored from the delivery.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
• One day matches, 45 overs per side (a min of 23 overs per side is required to constitute a match)
Playing Hours
• The innings of the team batting first will begin at 9:30am and extend for 45 overs unless the team is
dismissed beforehand or 12:30pm is reached.
• The innings of the team batting second can begin prior to lunch if the team batting first is dismissed prior
to 12:10pm. Lunch will then be taken at 12:30pm with play resuming no later than 1:15pm.
• If the team batting first is dismissed after 12:10pm, lunch will be taken immediately. Play will resume
after lunch (a maximum of 45 mins).
• The day’s play will conclude three hours after the commencement of the innings of the team batting
second as long as it has received its 45 overs.
2
• Drinks may be taken on the field after each hour of play.
Bowling Restrictions
• 9 overs per bowler per game with a maximum of 5 overs per spell for medium and fast bowlers. This
bowler must then not bowl again until other bowlers have bowled 10 overs. These restrictions do not
apply to spin bowlers.
Fielding Restrictions – Powerplays
• At the instant of delivery there shall not be more than five fielders on the leg side.
• A 27m circle will be present on all playing fields.
• Powerplay 1 (compulsory, 1st 10 overs) – No more than 2 fielders are allowed outside of the
27m circle when the ball is bowled.
• Powerplay 2 (chosen by the batting side, 5 continuous overs between the 16th – 40th over) – No more
than 3 fielders are allowed outside of the 27m circle when the ball is bowled.
• Remaining overs – No more than 5 fielders are allowed outside of the 27m circle when the ball is
bowled.
• In circumstances where the number of overs in the match are reduced, the table below will explain
the fielding restrictions

Game Delays
• If it is impossible for the team batting second to receive its 45 overs, the game will finish at the scheduled
time and the match will be awarded to the team with the higher total number of runs scored at the
highest equal number of overs after the 22nd over.
• If the start of play is delayed for any legitimate reason, the number of minutes lost will be divided by
seven (7) to determine the number of overs that the game will be reduced for each team.
Wednesday
• 2 x T20 matches (AM & PM), 20 overs per side (a min of 10 overs per side is required to constitute a
match)
Playing hours and intervals
• Each T20 match shall be completed in 3 hours. Lunch (for all teams) will be taken between matches.
• Game times are - AM match 9.30am – 12.30pm. PM match 1.30pm – 4.30pm
• Each innings shall be completed in 1 hour and 20 minutes from the designated start time of that
innings. The interval between innings should be 20 minutes only.
Bowling restrictions
• 4 overs per bowler per game
• In a delayed or interrupted match, no bowler may bowl more than one-fifth of the total overs
allowed (unless such a number has been exceeded before the interruption)
3
Fielding restrictions
• At the instant of delivery there shall not be more than five fielders on the leg side.
• For the first 6 overs only of each innings, only 2 fielders are permitted to be outside the fielding
restriction circle.
• For the remaining overs of each innings only 5 fielders are permitted to be outside the fielding circle
at the instant of delivery.
• In circumstances where the number of overs in the match are reduced, the table below will explain

Tied matches - Procedure for ‘One1 Eliminator’ (Super Over)
• In matches where the scores are equal the result shall be determined through a tiebreaker based on the
ICC One Over Per Side Eliminator “One1 Eliminator”.
The “One1 Eliminator” shall occur as follows:
• Subject to weather conditions the One1 Eliminator shall commence 5 minutes after the conclusion of the
match.
• The One1 Eliminator will take place on the pitch allocated for the match with the sides batting in the
same order. The umpires shall not change ends. The fielding side shall choose which end to bowl from.
• Prior to the commencement of the One1 Eliminator each team shall select three batsmen and one
bowler.
• The selected players are nominated and names given to the umpires.
• Each team’s over is played with the same fielding restrictions as those that are in place for the last over
of a T20 or 45 over match.
• The same ball (or a ball of a similar age if the original ball is out of shape) as used at the end of the team’s
innings shall be used for the “extra” over.
• The loss of two wickets in the over ends the team’s one over innings.
• In the event that the result is still a Tie after the One1 Eliminator (Super Over) above has been applied,
the One1 Eliminator shall be repeated until a winner is obtained.
Game Result
• The winning team for each match will be the team with the higher score at the completion of the fixture.
If the team batting second passes the score of the team batting first before the completion of its allotted
overs, the game can continue with the agreement of both team coaches. However, no statistical
calculations will apply from this time.
• For a result to be reached, at least half of the maximum overs must be completed in each innings unless
one or both teams are dismissed beforehand. Should this not be possible, then the game will be
declared a draw.
• If fewer than the full number of overs are bowled to the team batting first, the match will be awarded to
the team with the higher total score when the same number of overs is bowled to the team batting
second.
• Scorebooks must show the batting team’s total score for each over.
4
Points System
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (45 over) matches
4 points for a win
2 points for a tie/draw
0 points for loss
Wednesday (2 x T20) matches
2 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss
Net Run Rate
(a) Net run rate for each team will be calculated throughout the first 4 days of competition. This will help
separate teams after the 4 days of play who are on the same number of points
(b) A team’s net run rate is calculated by subtracting from the average runs per over scored by that team
throughout the first 4 days of competition, the average runs per over scored against that team throughout
the first 4 days of competition. An example is below:
Team A – Scores 1050 runs in 175 overs (batting innings). Concedes 700 runs in 175 overs (bowling innings).
(1050/175) - (700/175) = 6 - 4 = 2
Therefore, Team A has a net run rate of +2 runs/over for the first 4 days of competition.
(c) In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate
shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of
overs in which the team was dismissed.
Draw and Field Allocations

Impact Cricket Challenge Winners and Runners Up
On Friday 12 December, the Division 1, 2 and 3 finals will all be played at Brisbane Boys’ College (BBC).
The Division 1 final will be at Oakman Park.
The Division 2 final will be at Miskin Oval.
The Division 3 final will be at P&F Oval
Within each Division, the two teams with the highest aggregate match points after the completion of
matches during the first 4 days of competition (i.e. by Thursday 11 December) will play in their respective
Division final. In the case of a tie within a Division, net run rate will be used to place these teams and
determine Division finalists.
Should any of the Impact Cricket Challenge finals finish in a ‘tie’, the Procedure for ‘One1 Eliminator’
(Super Over) shall apply to determine a winner.
The Awards Ceremony for winners, runners up and player of the final (from each Division) will be conducted
at BBC following the completion of that particular Division final.
All remaining teams within each Division will play each other in consolation finals (‘friendlies’) on
Friday 12 December.
These matches, and associated venues, will be determined by Divisional placings and/or mutual arrangement
between team officials, in conjunction with, and at the ultimate discretion of, the Impact Cricket Challenge
Director, as early as possible on Thursday afternoon/evening.
All match officials/team representatives for all teams will be notified at this time.
